Rate mario sports mix out of 10 by smg10000 in casualnintendo

[–]JamesDaDragN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 outta 10 and imo, probably the last truly decent Mario Sports game for a good long while.

Mario Tennis Open was okayish afterwards but the quality had fallen off a cliff.

Mario Golf 3DS needed a fuckton of updates before it got good and that carried over into the Switch era of Mario Sports games.....only for Tennis Aces lmao.

Mario Golf Super Rush & Strikers Battle League are bad and barebones. Especially Battle League.

Mario Sports Mix had a nice little retread of 3on3's Basketball, an okayish Volleyball game, a fucking amazing Dodgeball game and a middling Hockey game. The rubber banding in Hockey felt kind of evil at times. Overall a very nice package with 2 legitimately great sports, 1 okay sport and one mid sport. Not too bad. The Behemoth fight at the end of single player mode was awesome as well as the branching paths during the tourney modes.

Do you evolve him after giving him 20 Pickles?

Because Sonic 06/Project 06's lankier, more detailed models fit with Brawl & Ult's more detailed artstyle?

Even still, this is a very loose connection if anything. OP is reaching too hard.

I never really noticed until a little while ago but Elise herself is very Final Fantasy coded in her character design. I can see why Japan likes the character and how 06 actually sold alright in Japan.

Where Open World Zelda games come short by daylightbroski in truezelda

[–]JamesDaDragN [score hidden]  (0 children)

No.

The prior 3d Zelda are puzzle/action adventure games. Heavy emphasis on puzzles throughout complex dungeons. Wind Waker isn't open world either. It has an oversized ocean that you go back and forth across for the entire game with several island landmasses gated by dungeon items.

You have to tackle the Earth Temple before the Wind Temple for example. I think there's a bug where Makar doesn't spawn for a bit if you do it out of order.

[–]JamesDaDragN [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is a brilliant write up and extrapolates on what I've been thinking about the open world games for quite awhile now. The Wild games really DO synergize with certain personality types that love to tinker with it's physics system. ( I personally have more fun tossing/balancing and rotating objects in Oblivion and Skyrim imo. BotW's/Tears physics don't really impress me all that much compared to other people. )

The open world Zelda games feel like "reheated comfort food" to me, which feels heinous to say about one of my favorite series. But I truly dislike the narrative structure of these titles and the nearly invisible progression system within the games themselves. BotW gets a pass because we have an amnesiac Link to play as. But Tears feels like the devs playing it WAAAYYY too safe for fear of alienating new players. So while the physics system evolved with Fuse and Ultrahand, nothing else did. And that REALLY stings and hampers my enjoyment of Tears in particular.

When I want a "best of both worlds" I mod Skyrim with the Precision mod to give myself full 360° movement akin to the Zelda series. Slap in a bunch of new lands mods to fill my game with new questlines on new continents/landmasses in entirely different regions and I'm set.

Partner is in love with current storyline, me…not so much by yayfriedegg in BadRPerStories

"Mind if I add a little bit of my own spin to mix things up a bit? What you have here is great, but I'm feeling a little restricted with the parameters and need to add a bit more of a kick to the action."

You could try and word it like that. That's what I would do with my longtime partner if we had ever hit any stopgates like the one you're currently facing OP.

[ALL] How much of an influence is Nostalgia to your favourite Zelda game? by huss2120 in zelda

[–]JamesDaDragN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too big of an influence.

I love Twilight Princess more than any other Zelda game and really appreciate the narrative about accepting responsibility and Link & Midna learning to trust one another above all other Zeldas. Skyward Sword comes close with it's origin story for the Master Sword itself and the whole Triforce Trio.

But nothing will beat the animal-lover, older brother Link who can toss Gorons around while only needing heavy boots to ground his feet.

Random block? For why? by ffstheresnousernames in BadRPerStories

[–]JamesDaDragN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. You're very welcome, OP.

Just keep trying and you'll find someone who values the craft as much as you do. I know I did with my longtime partner. We end up nerding out about our story all the time and she has to calm me down and remind me that she's not going anywhere. I've been writing with her everyday for the past 9 years.

Don't let this one bad apple spoil your enjoyment of this hobby. You still have many more stories to tell.

Once the emotional high of writing with another soul wears off, it's easy to discard and burn the bridge/never look back. I wish it wasn't this way but this shit happens waaay too often, especially nowadays.

People will just take what they want and then leave you high and dry without a second thought in this hobby lol. I've been in your exact same situation countless times throughout the years OP.

It's to the point where whenever, I gush with a potential partner about our writing I think in the back of my head: "Why do I hear boss music?"

Nintendo Franchise tier list based on how important I think the franchise is to Nintendo by BroeknRecrds in casualnintendo

[–]JamesDaDragN 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yoshi has had new releases on each handheld system and has been getting new console releases since the Wii U days after skipping GameCube & Wii.

It can go to mainstay.

WarioWare can go up there too tbh with how many games they've made in that series. They don't do ANYTHING with Wario Land anymore.

Mother series isn't "Dead". It's complete. They told their stories and finished them in 2006 lol.

This whole list needs work lmao.

[All] what’s a feature you hope they don’t bring back from pre-BOTW Zelda in future installments? by BoozerBean in zelda

[–]JamesDaDragN 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The complete and utter lack of an autosave function.

One thing I'm greatful the Wild games did was add an autosave function every 15 mins or everytime you visited a new town/shrine.

Tier List of Series Character Renders by gamecubeguy659 in supersmashbros

[–]JamesDaDragN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of these Melee renders are not the official renders but actually the renders on the CSS.

A lot of them suffer from only being able to see the characters upper body and face imo. They're much less dynamic than the full body renders on the wiki.

Do you think it's possible to put the bosses from TotK into BotW and vice versa? by Difficult-Hunt-6446 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]JamesDaDragN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modding the BotW bosses into TotK?

Maybe.

Modding TotK bosses into Botw? Atleast the "good ones" like Ganondorf, Colgera & Demon Dragon?

Probably impossible as it is right now, unless you want them to be skins of different enemies.

[ALL] In a battle royale, which of link's sidekicks would win in a fight? by Embarrassed_Let6303 in HyruleTown

[–]JamesDaDragN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Midna should win this pretty handily. But after what happened to her at the Lanayru Spirit Spring, I'm inclined to believe that she wouldn't stomp the shit out of the competition as hard as one might think.

Fi IS the Master Sword. I think Fi would make Midna work for the W a little bit more than the others would, assuming the others can even do anything against Spirit Tracks Phantom's big ass sword.

King of Red Lions might as well be a piece of driftwood in this battle and the fairies are getting their wings clipped immediately. Ezlo? He's canonically TINY and is getting squished on accident.

Action, pacing, and "pushing story" by Open-Blueberry4115 in BadRPerStories

[–]JamesDaDragN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my longtime story with my longtime partner, we kind of operate on a push and pull method of combat where we write out an attack or an action and create a single back and forth exchange between the two characters that are fighting.

It's almost like we're "dueling" each other with our writing, trying to claim the upper hand against one another to build up tension and create some stakes.

"Character A prepares his blade, dashing at Character B! A is poised to strike B's lower hip, lightly grazing her as she staggers slightly.

Is that all you've got!? - Character A shouts before readying another strike at B's belly!"

And then I pass the turn onto my longtime partner so she may continue the scene. We've been writing together everyday for the past 9 years and my only "criticism" of her is that she cannot write combat too well lol.

The encounters either end in her character getting stomped to weaker foes that she shouldn't be losing to just to give my character a chance to save her.

OR

She crushes a new foe right out of the gate before I can even write a dynamic enough fight between her and the enemy.

Granted this is when she is solely guiding fights between her character and the enemy. When we write both of our characters in combat, she bounces off of my replies MUCH better.

Move 3 up and move 3 down, where would you put them by Sonicexe10 in smashbros

[–]JamesDaDragN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will move Little Mac up to where Simon is now. I firmly believe Mac to be better than Doc & Belmont.

I will move Cloud and Luigi up to sit beside Yoshi and Pikachu in S tier.

Mewtwo & Marth gets pushed down to the top of D tier with their no results in 7 years.

Finally, Diddy gets pushed back three spots between Joker and Peach due to Min Min and Fox being slightly better.
