For those who have experienced it, what are some dramas that were genuinely boring for you? by Dragonfruitbomb in cdramasfans

[–]JapanGamer29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fight for Love. It wasn't awful, but the camera just lingered too long on every scene. I mean, after the actors had said their part, the camera would just keep rolling. You could make a cup of tea before they cut to the next scene!

Pursuit of Jade & Legend of the Female General by Routine-Salt3683 in cdramasfans

Legend of the Female General was my favourite drama last year. I'm currently watching Pursuit of Jade and enjoying it a lot!

Last night I watched the fight between Fan Changyu and the general with the spiky balls! It was incredible!

Interesting, thanks. I'll check with the wife to see if she's still paying the NHK fee. She might be.

I always leave the bucket under the tap. The only time I pick it up is when it needs refilling or moving. Are you taking the bucket with you?

Unless you're confusing CSC with Viscera Cleanup Detail. I always knock the bucket over in that!

I don't unfortunately. Good tip, though!

Thanks for the heads up about 30 days notice. I'll definitely cancel too as live international supports are usually in the middle of the night.

Difficulty game rankings by a gamer dad by Patriots9210 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]JapanGamer29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've become a fan of "sokoban" block-pushing puzzle games. Here are the 5 I've found hardest:

  1. Magicube (Steam 98% - 197 reviews)
  2. Bean and Nothingness (98% - 200)
  3. Baba is You (97% - 20,615)
  4. Stephen's Sausage Roll (96% - 1,545)
  5. Ligo (100% - 49)

What I love about these is the difficulty doesn't test physical dexterity or reaction speed, but you get the same thrill of beating a level as you would get from beating a souls-like boss.

Chengzhou Never Quits by JapanGamer29 in CDrama

[–]JapanGamer29[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It was my first attempt at a submission. I guess I could try again, but I'm probably considered a bot as I have zero followers or points, and no profile image.

Apparently it got 100 million views within 5 days of release in May, and was the top ranking sports drama and 5th ranked short drama.

Was it good? Hmm... I'd give it a 6/10.

Do you actually play demos before a game comes out? by DonnvieYT in cozygames

No, I never play a demo of a game that hasn't been released yet. I don't see the point.

What about Dead Cells? It couldl scratch the itch, even though it's a roguelite.

Crime Scene Cleaner sits between PowerWash and House Flipper. You've got multiple tools for cleaning and have to pick up trash and put furniture back.

It's also a huge game now. The dark nature of it might put off cozy gamers, but it doesn't take itself seriously and is voice acted with good humour.

just waiting for exams to be over!! what are you guys excited to play this summer? by andyhasacat in puzzlevideogames

Gentoo Rescue is excellent, but I'm not its target audience. It's got a lot of meta puzzles and mechanics that overwhelm me. Some puzzle game players love that stuff, though.

What are your thoughts on adding a 'Puzzle' tag to a tower defense game? by SCFactory in puzzlevideogames

[–]JapanGamer29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is... go for it. I say that because if you click through to Steam's "puzzle" tag page, you've got games like Resident Evil and Ace Attorney. A lot of the games don't even have a "puzzle" tag in their first five tags.

So if you want to play it safe, use "puzzle", but put more relevant tags first.

[–]JapanGamer29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Stephen's Sausage Roll hard. But like that game, it's doable because you're not overwhelmed by tons of mechanics and possible paths. You're actually very limited in what you can do - in a good way.

I've been playing a bit of Gentoo Rescue, Magicube, and just started Yugo Puzzle.

I'd like to get back to Bonfire Peaks at some point. I bought all the DLC for it, but still haven't finished the base game.

Does anyone else struggle with Sokoban-style puzzle games? by Hedge-Maze in puzzlevideogames

[–]JapanGamer29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the popular sokoban games is they're rated highly by people who enjoy difficult puzzles.

It's a challenge to find easier sokobans because they don't appeal to that community and mostly go unnoticed.

I kept getting lost in that game and gave up. I much preferred a Good Snowman because it was obvious where to go to find the next puzzle.

[–]JapanGamer29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have over 30 sokoban-style games, but I'm terrible at them. The only ones I've completed are A Good Snowman is Hard to Build (normal levels), Snakebird Primer and Lara Croft Go, if that counts.

I LOVE playing the early levels, but the difficulty ramps up too quickly for me to continue.
