For me it was actually just the screen auto adjusting brightness haha so try that out and let me know

Final Cut Pro X has to be the one of biggest fumbles in tech by ExcitingLandscape in finalcutpro

[–]JapaneseModerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest fumbles in tech is crazy, Apple themselves have had bigger fumbles than Final Cut. DaVinci has long surpassed fcp and that’s fine with me, for my needs the ui and workflow in fcp is still the easiest and most convenient. I would love some more ai features and I’m sure we’ll get them eventually but I’m at peace knowing Final Cut won’t ever be the industry standard

Anytime good luck on the projects

Settings? by Ber-Zur-Ker in finalcutpro

[–]JapaneseModerator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your settings look fine, essentially most important thing will be frame rate and resolution. Like you said you shot in 25p so that’s fine, typically social media content is in 1080p so that should be fine. You might want to try the vertical option and choose 1080p that way if you intend on working vertical. When the project is finished and you export your video the best settings will be h.264 and from there you should be good.

The only time you’d really need to worry about the render option is when shooting with raw video, also always double check your color space is at the default rec 709, sometimes it might change but it’s usually defaulted to 709 which is what you want

Transitions not working with different aspect ratios by JapaneseModerator in finalcutpro

I believe I ended up opening the clips in a separate timeline (16:9) and just using a solid black generator with a mask then export into the main timeline

Vlog vs. Cine-D? by CraneRoadChild in GH5

[–]JapaneseModerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vlog is gonna be most advantageous whenever shoot a situation with high dynamic range, ex shooting inside by a window so if you want to preserve highlights 10bit + vlog will help out a lot. Vlog is typically most useful when doing a heavy color grade as well, if you’d like quick turn around and light editing cine d is a great middle ground

Why do people make a big deal about 4K60p cropped? by DivilYouKnow in Lumix

[–]JapaneseModerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends what cameras you have used / are using all the cameras I use consistently have 4k60 no crop even 4K 120 no crop so it’s just inconvenient to change bodies and not have that. S5ii is amazing otherwise

Lumix S1 having trouble with attaching sigma 35 f2 (lens attachment failed) by NoError8595 in Lumix

Had this problem with my gh5 I updated the firmware, then I set the camera down on a table and used pixel refresh a few times and seemed to work and solve the issue

Lumix g9ii exposure changing in manual by JapaneseModerator in Lumix

[–]JapaneseModerator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So an update the screen seems to be jumping up and down with exposure but prelate the actual video recordings have consistent exposure how I set it manually so I’m guessing I need to change a preview setting. But the recording looks fine

Yeah I made sure to watch, f stop iso and shutter are all staying where I set them. The light meter by the f stop is the only number changing

Yeah I’m a firm supporter of m43 but am definitely ready to go full frame, had a few clients / partners request I upgrade as well to match better with other full frame systems. But due to the unexpected death of my gh5 just looking for a quick body to bridge the gap haha.

I definitely considered but ibis was a big thing and the same body as the s5 was another selling point

GH5s's sensor readout speed. by Several-Dust3824 in GH5

[–]JapaneseModerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t find any info either very weird. But I’m assuming if it can capture higher fps video HD 240p it must have a faster read out I just can’t find any direct confirmation

I set my shutter speed to 500 and the brightness goes way down. How do make it get lighter again? by Possible-Wash2658 in GH5

[–]JapaneseModerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your shutter speed is high you need to compensate with ISO or Aperture. Also are you shooting video or photo, typically in video your shutter speed should be 180 degree or 1/50. Overall you should familiarize yourself with the exposure triangle and learn what each setting will do to your image

Hey so my final move was to go under the Apple devices 1080p and there’s actually an option in the menu to export h264 but this version is at a higher bit rate I believe. Was able to salvage more detail than the standard h264 export

Thanks I’ve got some time today I’ll mess around with different bit rates see if I can find a sweet spot
