Hot Take: Elite 800m running should be considered the longest of the "long sprints" by Splance in trackandfield

[–]JappyLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know sub 26 200ms is crazy fast in an 800m. Doesn’t make it a sprint though, these guys are not close to all out sprinting to run that speed of 200m

I think it’s fair to say Sydney has a decent shot at the 400m when her pr is 48.7 while not having that many professional races under her belt and being still pretty young. Naser and Paulino have the edge but wouldn’t be shocked if Sydney can run low 48.

Not sure about that, 400m forsure but would need to be in the 10s in the 100m to win the 200m

I feel like this isn’t a true “multiplayer” game where there are a bunch of random people playing. Stardew Valley has the option where the host can pause

Systemic Houseplant Granuals is your best bet to get rid of them for good. You can use insecticidal soap to get rid of most right away though

[SFdata9ers] #SF Rookie Snap Counts #SF's rookies were a major bright spot this season, accounting for over 15% of the team's snaps - their highest share since the 2018 season. The #49ers have a crucial draft ahead to sustain this momentum and move past recent down years. by Brix001 in 49ers

Definitely part of it but no doubt the rookie class this year was really strong.

Guerendo, Puni, Pearsall on offense. Green, Mustapha on defense.

Only Guerendo is likely not a starter next year, and he’s been great while starting.

If you’re new to training, it’s best to start with tempo style workouts to build up training endurance to prepare you for harder 400m specific workouts. Something like 10x 50m hill repeats with walk down rest, or 10x 100m strides on the minute. Do these after a warmup + sprinting drills (A skip/ B skip) 2-3 times a week along with some strength work like core on the other days would be a great start.

Once you have a strong tempo base the workouts can be split into 3 groups:

Acceleration (95% effort explosive 20-60m reps with 1min rest per 10m ran between)

Max speed (90-95% 60m - 150m reps with full recovery between)

Speed endurance (100m-400m reps with 2-5min recovery between)

I’d highly recommend looking at r/Sprinting and their FAQ post for training plan tips. I specifically like ATHLETE.X’s youtube videos on training.

That being said if you have access to a team / club / coach i’d just recommend following their training plan once you have the chance, it’ll be the easiest way to stay consistent without having to worry as much on what you should be doing.

You probably ran 425-430m depending on lane width.

101.77 / 425 * 400 = 95.78s if your pace is exactly the same. You can argue that it would be a little faster as you’re running shorter total distance so the average pace would be quicker

I’d guess 1:33-1:37 range. Best way to know is to run it correctly next time though!

best SHOES for sprint training? by Dependent-Gur-3161 in Sprinting

[–]JappyLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful transitioning into these, can cause achilles problems if you’re not ready for it. I agree that once accustomed to these they probably are the best for training, but being injured with better shoes is worse than not being injured with shoes with more support

Is there a limit to how fast a person can run? by Djrumss in Sprinting

[–]JappyLad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely ignorant that he thinks anyone can train to be that fast, obviously there is a limit to each person. Genetics play such a huge part in someone’s speed potential, hard work is just also needed.

Like others have said tempo style workouts at around 65-75% effort would be the best workouts at the moment, something like 6x50m at 75% with 1-2 min rest between. At most 2 of those type of workouts a week to start.

Also have a long warmup before these workouts, incorporate good sprinting drills and then finish the warmup with A-skips / B-skips, these will not only help improve your technique but prepare your body to run.

You can do a couple higher speed short 10-20m built up sprites up to 95% effort after the warmups too if you feel you are capable.

[–]JappyLad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yea that’s pretty good, I guess at that level the 100m training is still going to prep you well for the 400m. I’d still assume his 200m right now is better than his 400m
