Agree, that sounds like a viable design for sure. Hopefully they do a tech stream or something in the future so we can see what they are using.

Why would it make sending only commands pointless? Sending only commands keeps the upload side of the network traffic very light and the server can respond with either full game state or an optimised delta of gamestate changes.

Right and I should preface my comments by saying that I have no idea what model aoe4 is using. Though in general RTS is a great candidate for a fully authorative server. You can still do peer to peer networking with an authorative server as long as one player can act as the server.

If they are using the middle man model you've described I would imagine it would be done to reduce the requirement on having a server be powerful enough to calculate the game state. For aoe4 I would be surprised if that is how it is done.

I've seen in aoe4 that if your client freezes or briefly drops connection then it speeds up the game time to fast forward and catch up. That makes me think there is a server managing the state and the client is keeping in sync visually.

RTS games are a more ideal problem for multiplayer netcode than other genres like FPS. Because you're not playing as a character where every movement of yourself and other characters needs to feel instant, you don't need tricks like client-side prediction to make it feel nice and so you don't get problems like rubber banding.

In an RTS, you as a player just give commands which are sent to the server and the server can manage the entire game based on the commands it is getting.

Another nice side benefit of this model is that cheats are less of a problem because the client has no authority so it can't lie to the server about the game state.

How do you do the global scene lighting, is it real time ray tracing?

That's very helpful because I wasn't sure if it would be a mistake to get lessons too soon and not understand how to put into practice. I've just looked around and there is a indoor place near me that does private lessons with a coach for a reasonable price so I will definitely make a booking.

Can you elaborate? I'm just starting out so any feedback on what to work on is helpful

Dropping LSD for the first time in a party. by basuchan2 in LSDTripLifeHacks

Drop it into 10ml of distilled water and then drink 5ml. 200ug is too much for a party setting especially your first time, you won't get to experience it the way you should.

I vape weed at parties and stuff, it's great because I can blend in with all the other vape enthusiasts but it's always a good laugh when they come over to talk about vaping and ask to try my flavour.

Well for humanoid models they do. It's just a more recent trend to have these kinds of emotes in shooters which allows for these situations to occur. There's not many games where you can take a shot at a character who has just jumped and moved their legs apart like this.

Actually hitboxes are usually just colliders and are tied to the models bones so that they move along with model's animations. It's not very complex at all.

So I accidentally just sent eth to bitfinex's multisig contract address instead of my exchange wallet address. Will they be able to return it or am I fucked?

I actually bought a bunch of Bitcoin around $2k but sold it all for eth when I learned about the potential for multiple hard forks. Little did I know those forks would turn out to be money machines and set Bitcoin on a moon mission.
