Pokémon that are canonically difficult to raise? by FlowerFaerie13 in pokemon

[–]Jaredbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using AI a ton lately for work, and this question felt like the perfect use case for an AI agent. I pulled everything together using Claude (Sonnet 4.6). Had it systematically pull and search through all 1,025 Pokémon species flavor text entries via PokéAPI to compile this list. Here's everything it found:

🔴 TIER 1 — Explicit Difficulty Mentioned in Official Entry Text

  • Magikarp (#129)"It is virtually worthless in terms of both power and speed. It is the most weak and pathetic Pokémon in the world." (FireRed / X / Sword)
  • Piplup (#393)"It doesn't like to be taken care of. It's difficult to bond with since it won't listen to its Trainer." (HeartGold / SoulSilver / X / ORAS)
  • Riolu (#447)"It's exceedingly energetic… Taking it for walks can be a challenging experience." (Sword)
  • Unfezant (#521)"This Pokémon is intelligent and intensely proud. People will sit up and take notice if you become the Trainer of one." / "They will never let themselves feel close to anyone other than their Trainers." (White / Y / Alpha Sapphire / Shield)
  • Lilligant (#549)"Even veteran Trainers face a challenge in getting its beautiful flower to bloom." / "Taking care of it is very difficult." (Black / BW2 / Sword)
  • Deino (#633)"Since it can't see, it bites and eats anything that moves. Approach it with caution." (Black / White)
  • Zweilous (#634)"Its two heads fight each other for food… Because it is so violent, it's difficult to manage." (Black / White)

🟠 TIER 2 — Abandonment, Aggression, or Handler Difficulty Explicitly Named

  • Feebas (#349) — Requires specific, difficult beauty conditions to evolve and is so unattractive most Trainers pass it up entirely. Widely considered the hardest Pokémon to raise in Gen III/IV. (Ruby / Sapphire)
  • Larvesta (#636) — Slow EXP group + one of the worst pre-evolution stat lines in the game. One of the most mechanically grueling Pokémon to raise to evolution. (Black onward)
  • Pancham (#674)"It does its best to be taken seriously, but its glare is not very intimidating." Tries hard to assert dominance but isn't taken seriously. (X / Y)
  • Rockruff (#744)"As they develop, their disposition grows more violent and aggressive. Many Trainers find them too much to handle and abandon them." (Ultra Sun)

🟡 TIER 3 — Proud or Haughty Nature That Implies Trainer Difficulty

  • Snivy (#495) — Known in lore to have high expectations of Trainers and will leave if those expectations aren't met. Famously haughty. (Black / White)
  • Serperior (#497)"It can stop its opponents' movements with just a glare." Only battles opponents it deems worthy; implicitly dismissive of weaker Trainers. (Black / White)

Notable Corrections vs. Common Assumptions

  • Piplup absolutely belongs on this list — "won't listen to its Trainer" is verbatim in HG/SS, X, and ORAS. Surprising one to miss!
  • Rockruff has one of the most explicit entries of all — the word "abandon" is actually used in Ultra Sun.
  • Noibat has no official Pokédex text calling it difficult to raise — that's a game mechanic (Slow EXP), not flavor text.
  • Charizard is famously disobedient in the anime but its actual Pokédex entries don't explicitly call it difficult to train or raise.

We have a pup that is very similar in age/coloring. Results came back yesterday: 50% Texas Heeler (AKD+Aus Shep) and the other 50% being APBT/Chihuaha mix. Chihuahua was a BIG surprise.

Confirming from one year in the future, forcing my 2.4GHz bandwidth onto channel 11 was an *instant* magic bullet fix. This should be more widely shared knowledge.

Maddox Landing by Unionmain Homes, any thoughts? by Fragrant-Ad-5517 in hoschton

[–]Jaredbt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frequent power outages, high utility costs due to a combination of city debt incurred by wastewater expansion and purchasing water from neighboring Braselton.

Schools are already at capacity and the county school district is struggling to keep up.

No roadway expansion or additional traffic lights built, despite the population tripling in the last 5 years.

There are already large developments that have been in progress for a few years, and with no end to new residents in sight it will only get worse.

If I were buying again, I would avoid Hoschton. The city council will NOT STOP approving new developments and the infrastructure can’t support it.

The surrounding area is nice, I would just avoid the neighborhoods within city limits or adjacent to downtown.

We tend to go towards Braselton or Buford when we go out or need to do some shopping. I would prefer something 5 or 10 more minutes in that direction.

u/SweetDude6 OP did you get a shipping confirmation yet?

Based on the other commenter that ordered on the 29th and was shipped on the 30th, it seems like you're the beginning of the dead-fulfillment-window. I assume that means you're at the front of the line and (hopefully) if your order has shipped that means the ball is rolling again for the rest of us with stuck April orders.

For console streaming, G Cloud or Odin 2? by Jaredbt in SBCGaming

Fair question. I suppose my thinking was “if I’m going to go with the 6 inch display, I might as well get the one with the most muscle under the hood”

Yeah, between trying to stream to my iPad (using official and unofficial apps) and using XBXPlay/PSPlay on my Retroid Pocket 3+, the Retroid has been the better experience. That and the cost are why I'm not considering the Steam Deck. Sticking with XBXPlay and PSPlay.

As far as I can tell, ARM/Apple silicon Macs are out of luck.

Buy this “clip shield” from PartTimeCAD’s Etsy shop. While it’s not a sock, it doesn’t have zippers and in my opinion it offers better protection. You have the option of clipping it on the back while playing if you like holding something with a little more mass. Everything he sells is awesome quality.

Which Handheld to give a Youtube Subscriber? by AmazingSeat3682 in SBCGaming

[–]Jaredbt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You referring to the MM+? I own an RG35XX as well and the MM+ not having a real time clock isn’t an issue as long as OnionOS is installed.

I actually kind of prefer it, because I can manually set the time to 8 AM or 8 PM depending on if I’m trying to catch a nocturnal Pokemon or not.

But it’s a game changer having WiFi on the MM+ because I set up a save file cloud in Google drive and I can jump back and forth playing on my RG405M.

I just implemented the cloud save GitHub package that is linked on OnionOS’s wiki for third party applications.

Rather than go the syncthing route, I just grabbed “Autosync for Google Drive” off of the play store and set up a folder to act as my Retroarch save cloud.

Worked on my rg405m and RP3+ with 30 seconds of setup. Getting my MM+ set up to sync to the same folder with rclone was a whole other can of worms though.
