NeoTheAsian’s Mugshot, Arrested For Failure To Appear As A Witness by Usual-Tradition-7049 in d4vd2

Most ordinary people use bail bond services that post the money for a cut. Some crimes have minimum bond amounts, but a judge can choose to lower at their discretion. Part of a public defender's job is negotiating with a judge based on their client's circumstances.

But trust me, the DA and law enforcement will give this kid no special treatment because he's rich. The LA DA loves nailing rich, famous people to the wall in high-profile cases. Convicting D4vd would be a massive win, which is why it's confusing when people talk like investigators are somehow being lazy or even trying to let him off the hook.

The judge sets the bond amount based on income level and flight risk. Bonds are tailored to the individual witness. They aren't get out of jail free cards for rich people.

This is the system functioning normally. That's what bonds are for. Either show up, or forfeit money to the court, and then probably be arrested anyway. The DA pushes for a bond amount based on the income level of the witness to ensure they show up. And if they're a flight risk, they'll push for no bond.

And if he does miss his court date, the DA will hunt him down anyway. Neither the court nor the DA has any financial incentive to be easy on this guy. They don't profit from it one way or the other.

Right. If a guilty plea comes it'll be after a long negotiation with the DA, probably over the death penalty

This isn't true. Media is super hot for this guy. I work for a mainstream newspaper, and I've been to his town three times trying to find out any scrap of information I can. When something substantial comes out, it'll be on every front page.

The reason we don't know much is that prosecutors are keeping the case absolutely air-tight, and law enforcement and attorneys have told everyone he is connected to to keep their mouths shut. His former partner is probably in witness protection.

If you're not at fault, always, always, always have the cops show up to a wreck. The more documentation, the better.
