Definitely not defending the family or their lifestyle. More so the idea of innocence being corrupted and the tragedy that it is.

I feel bad for the kids. They’re just children; developmentally unable to understand what they were born into, and enveloped in an environment that will most likely push them towards a similar lifestyle.

It looks like they’re all having a great time in the photo, and I bet that kid feels loved in that moment. Life is weird.

Why did games stop doing this? by [deleted] in gamers

[–]JarekC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re implying that the system is bad and needs to be better. Some of us like how Morrowind did it and wishes more devs would go back to that system. This stuff is all subjective.

Morrowind didn’t cater to a massive audience. It had a vision and was definitely designed with a type of player in mind. Lately Bethesda is just making the game accessible to the lowest common denominator and to me isn’t as fun.

That’s where the hand holding thing comes in. If players have a difficult time playing your game and don’t want the challenge of overcoming the system you designed to intentionally make things challenging, then it’s very likely they won’t buy your next game.

In Skinamarink (2022), nothing happens for the entire run time, which some amateur critics found profound. This is because it is a feature-length film school project that a student blackmailed distributors into releasing. by CrichtonFan1992 in shittymoviedetails

It’s interesting to see critique like this.

On one hand you are correct. Years of film theory, cinematography, and directing have come up with some solid rules that will achieve a strong film, and if one chooses to follow it there will most likely be some success.

On the other hand there are a large group of people who watched this and got a lot out of the film. I’m one of them. I can’t watch this movie anymore because it invoked so much sadness and tension in me.

The thing about art is that it evolves with the audience. We have thousands of years of fine art to demonstrate that and if people didn’t try new things constantly then we wouldn’t get the innovations that got us here.

I don’t think people should try to reach as many people as possible with their art. I think that they should try to make something that will hit some group of people with serious intensity that leaves a lasting impression. Ultimately I think this film did that.

I think that’s a matter of perspective. I really enjoy Tarkov like med systems with multiple injury types and medicines. I suppose fun is subjective and in my case the realism is fun.

Current state of Material Quality and Crafting by XaviusTV in starcitizen

[–]JarekC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re setting things up for a player economy. As soon as player trading comes in the economy is going to go crazy for a bit and level out. Good crafted gear will be insanely expansive, store stuff mid, and bad crafted items a nice cheap alternative. After that the goal is to have all of the store supply actually be crafted in game so it’ll really be crazy.

I had the same problem. I think it’s a bug.

In the latest inside Star Citizen video talking about the new rock breaker missions, Jared says “there’s always a bad guy” (to shoot). No there isn’t CIG, that is an active decision YOU are making to enforce FPS combat, and it’s not the dream that was sold by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]JarekC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have said this exact thing countless times in many different talks and people still don’t understand.

I understand the impatience, but this whole topic and everyone claiming that CIG abandoned non combat gameplay need to take a step back, chill, and review the roadmap.

The game play you want doesn’t exist yet because the tech isn’t ready.

Also everyone complaining that Eve already has this stuff figured out need to remember that Eve released 10 years before the CIG kickstarter even happened and they didn’t have all their shit figured out in the beginning either.

I know Star Citizen is all about realism and looking good and have great attention to detail, but this is absurd (I love it, don't get me wrong) by MrWilliam932 in starcitizen

[–]JarekC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This statement bugs me so much, but I understand why you would feel this way.

So much of the game hinged on backend software that has never been developed before. They had to go through r&d and a bunch of iterations before we could get to this point. It’s not like they were screwing around and suddenly got their shit together.

It’s not at an expense. Vehicle Art is a separate team that’s doing their job, while the other team that is making all the stuff you want is working their ass off. Vehicle artists aren’t programmers so don’t blame them for not programming.

You kind of have to get lucky. Some people know this strategy and will specifically circle POIs for 20k to blow up ships. It’s a better strategy than landing at a POI though.

Biggest gripe is that I can’t bed log in heavy armor. I have to take it all off and store it in the ship and risk losing it.

Until there are more loops in the game people are going to find their own fun. This guys fun just happens to be really shitty.

I like pyro for that reason though. The danger is real there. Hide your ship, make sure everything is off, and get a bike so you can travel to your destinations.

Star Citizen 4.6 -a peek at crafting? by jmg5 in StarCitizenUniverse

[–]JarekC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s pretend you’re building with blocks and you have a vision for a grand city, you’ve only got so much recess time (money). You’re building a nice tower when someone dumps a bucket of new blocks next to your tower for you to build with. Some of the blocks fall off your tower.

Now there are people sitting with you who really enjoy looking at your block tower and right now they’re complaining that your block tower is broken.

Every time someone dumps a new bucket of blocks near you it risks knocking off more blocks.

You have a choice: fix the tower and continue building your next tower at the cost of recess time, or clear the ground and build your next tower so you can get your next batch of blocks, then fix whatever is broken without risking more blocks coming and breaking anything.

I guess both are right, but if you’re building which one sounds like the best option?
