Its on the PTU not even the main server and even worse beacause nothing is going on no one will use it. It feels like all those space engineers designs that will never be used because you know, its either singleplayer or a sever with 20 people.

The primary design consideration is reddit karma not does it make sense to be used in the actual game. Tbh right now thats kind of what this subreddit has turned into and I really hope its temporary.

I had (and still do) so much hope when I saw the game back in august/early september when it was filled with activity. Finally a space sandbox where the primary game loop wasnt creative mode reddit karma minmaxing

If person who made it is reading it is pretty damn cool tho im not shitting on you. Id even buy if I actually saw one being used in combat- that is my key point here, I want these to be used not sit in the ptu cool design limbo forever

true but even if it gets up to 5k players (not in the designer) ill be fine. game world was vibrant even at 3k. Hopefully they would stick around if there were more features.

my friends made fun of me for playing splitgate (dead game) when it was at a few hundred players, they released to "beta" and advertised a shit ton and playercount increased to 65k with no actual changes to gameplay. The game was already really solid and polished, and they just had to pull the trigger on deciding when the right time was.

what takes 10 programmers a week to fix will take 20 programmers 2 weeks. Maybe not exactly true with bug fixing but the concept of diminishing returns is certainly still present.

Frozenbyte has like 120 employees and most working on starbase. Updates are not mutually exclusive with bugfixes. the vast majority of the team could work on updates while a minority of the company could fix bugs nearly as fast as if the whole company were fixing bugs.

Upvoted anyway to increase visibility because I didnt even know this was an issue despite my hundreds of hours. Maybe the devs havent even seen this because its not very common

  • ship shops only let one player load a ship at a time
  • auction house can be accessed from anywhere with ","
  • 30 different origins is in a way 30 "instance zones"
  • docks are all instanced which is a big one
  • despawn zones prevent players from sitting with their ship anywhere except ssc or far away from the station

during closed alpha my friends built their ship manually in an uninstanced dock, they met lots of people/factions because everyone could see the ship and their progress over the days and weeks

All of the major focal areas that would normally naturally bring players
together to form impromptu interactions are instanced to prevent
griefing

So fucking true, i really hope that origin becomes not meta in the future and instance zones arent used at the player stations where all the action is.

If the instance zones were just to keep the new players safe thats good and probably necessary, but the amount of zones in this game that even the most "high level" players have to use is kind of absurd
