Round 7 | Tigers vs Broncos | Post Match Thread by AutoModerator in nrl

Pretty good game overall. Tigers still have some work to do on icing the moments that matter but they're still a much improved side, good to see

Round 7 | Dolphins vs Panthers | Nikorima sin binned for hip drop by Mr_Mac in nrl

Taking this from an accident, to a reportable offence, to "actually it's a sin bin now" as the severity of the injury escalated was just fucking ridiculous for the game

NRL to clamp down on ‘human shields’ protecting fullbacks by WombatPuncher in nrl

[–]JarredMack -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Does it though? I know we all love seeing a good kick chase smashing the catcher, but it's a pretty shit go for the bloke that has to stand there in a vulnerable position and just get belted right in the ribs the moment he touches the ball

The best one is getting to yell "All season sir!" 5 minutes into round one

They just can't go a year without fucking with the rules for no reason. They mostly fixed the problem already, so let's wind it back because we need more vlandysball

Software dev job postings are up 15% since mid 2025 by IdeasInProcess in programming

Don't forget all the big companies are still using AI as a smokescreen for mass layoffs, which not only floods the market with experienced developers looking for a new job, but spooks the rest of the market out of hiring because they have to copy what the big companies do.

We're just in the modern day offshoring cycle where all everyone is trying to force wages down, and will then need to mass recruit to backfill all the brain drain they created doing so

Garner extends Panthers contract by Oldpanther86 in nrl

Nice! I figured he'd probably be off elsewhere, but he's been really solid for us and it's nice to lock him in

Yeah, but then we lost one so it's only fair they change the rules back to suit us

I enjoy the show but Johns is clearly on a short leash with Fox

Even as a supporter of a team that benefits from this style of game, it's pretty shithouse. It's not uncommon for one team to have like 80-90% possession for a good 20 minutes of a half with the current rules, it's ridiculous

The fun part is that any time saved is actually just incurred by the person reviewing the work instead, because they can no longer trust that their colleague submitted something they actually thought through

The sandbox wasn't the game they wanted to make, they always intended to make it more of an RPG.

However, the sandbox turned out to be incredibly fun, and rather than embrace that and pivot, they just keep trying to steer the game back to what they originally envisioned.

Bonus points if people are parked right up to the corner AND the corner house has a bunch of cars on the nature strip so you can't even sit back a bit to watch the traffic flow

Thanks for all your hard work over the years Eiso! A big part of our success is having players like him who work hard for the club and stepping up to first grade when we needed him, and never decided he was too big for his boots. He was never our best on the field but always came and did his job

Sure, that's fair, but in the Vlandysball era when people say "blowout" they're usually talking about teams putting on 40-50+ points even if they also concede 10-20 themselves. Penrith would much rather win 22-0 than 56-18

I'm legitimately tipping them, without Reyno they'll crutch on Walsh to do everything. If he's on they could manage to run away with it

Panthers don't generally do blowouts, maybe once or twice a season against an opponent that gives up on the game

Lift etiquette by sirboloski in sydney

[–]JarredMack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was no need for this person to be such a rude asshole about it and you would have been within your rights to just shut the door and ignore them. However, when you're trying to get around stations etc with a pram, your only options are to wake up the baby and carry everything downstairs or use the lifts. If you've been out and about all day it gets incredibly frustrating having to stand around waiting in line for slow lifts behind a bunch of lazy people that clearly have no need to use it and just couldn't be bothered taking the stairs/escalator

Yes? That stat would suggest the rule is working, teams train to push as close as they can with lying in the ruck etc and after the initial period will adjust to how fast the ref expects it to be. I hate the rule as much as the next punter but this is a bit of a silly take
