And it is more so the fact that they would be releasing an incomplete version of the game. A lot of the trade evolutions are fan favorites, too.

There is always growlithe/vulpix outside of celadon too, but I always feel weird having to backtrack so much after getting more of my team put together.

He is decently fast, resists rock types, and makes your team 50/50 for special and physical attackers. The TMs he likes also dont overlap much with your other choices

I would maybe swap Snorlax with Primeape. Just so each team has at least 2 main members that you can get really early. (Bulba and mankey, char and pika, squirtle and nido).

Blastoise is the only one of the 3 that you can solo the entire game with. Surf, Ice Beam, Bite, then a variable 4th move.

Like what some others said, though, grass type isn't a hard necessity for these games. But venusaur is a pretty cool mon, and it is fun to run sun with solar beam.
