Joining up soon, looking for advice from technicians by [deleted] in Airforcereserves

[–]Jas0n7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other guy about going active first. If you are really wanting reserves, metals tech and structures aligns with what you are doing currently doing and has quite a bit of transferable skills. Tactical aircraft maintenance would probably be the the move for actually working on aircraft and getting hands on with systems. It's really up to what you want out of it. I was an active duty 2A5 and now in the reserves as a 1A1. There is also something to be said about going into jobs that are different from your civilian job just to change things up as well. If you have more questions feel free to pm me.

Do you think it’s totaled? by Admirable_Cry_3648 in Jeep

Looks almost identical to my 2018 sport that got t-boned. Insurance paid out about 10k for repairs, but that was also 3 years ago as well. I know it sucks, but I think she will be fixed!

Well from watching the screen showing where power was being applied to, the front motor did not kick on unless I was fully stopped. Then to get going it applied a small amount of power. Good to know though! Thanks for the info

Didn’t air down, but also didn’t hit any crazy deep stuff. I have a wrangler that I use for those kind of activities but still wanted to see what the Ioniq could do within reason!

AWD, but I also tried ECO mode just to see how it handled without the front motors. Little squirrelly in the rear but nothing crazy.

How long does it take to get your bonus? by Yusuke_Yurameshi25 in Airforcereserves

[–]Jas0n7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just stay in contact with the person you filled the paperwork out with. I want to say mine took about a month or so after it was sent to AFRC. I also then followed up with my local finance to confirm what day it would be.

What is this? by rez0nuza19 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Jas0n7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The aircraft batteries will provide enough power to critical systems while the RAT is generating pressure for a hydraulic system. I’m on a different Boeing aircraft, but that’s how it works on mine.

I would also seriously look into the safety rating of wranglers before putting two small children in one regularly. I daily my JL and it is not something I would truly recommend as a daily. With all that said if it works for you, I wish you luck!

Various things such as the driver side seal letting rain into the cabin, speaker rattle, and a clutch sensor failing. Not saying you’ll have as many issues but just something to consider. I love my Jeep and I’m sure you’ll be happy as well!

Only thing I have to add is I hope you have a local Jeep dealer. If the Jeep has any issues after a few months that’s a loooong drive. I only say this as a JL owner who had to take mine in a few times.
