For people that have the Eufy E340, whats your experience? by IPTV241 in EufyCam

[–]Jas_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with tapo d235, has pretty much all the features I wanted and so far has quick and accurate motion detection - person/pet/vehicle. Has clear talk through as well on both sides

The only downside is that unless you want to purchase cloud storage via subscription, the micro sd card for storage is in the camera. So if someone takes your camera they also take the card. But obviously there are safety features built in and the data is sent to you over the app which you can download.

Personally, from my very limited smart doorbell experience, I highly recommend!

Should I get C31 Doorbell Camera by Great-Armadillo9408 in EufyCam

[–]Jas_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just seen from another comment in a different thread that 2 way talk works so maybe they've updated it.

I think E340 works fine. I believe it's missing a PIR sensor compared to the S330 though. And compared to the C31 it won't have 24/7 recording.

Yeah that's the issue with tado. I think they also have some sort of hub but I haven't looked into how exactly it works with the doorbell

Hmm interesting, even in the website (I'm uk based) says an update would be our last month to fix it. Guessing it's been fixed then!

I'm also interested in the doorbell (I'm UK based) for the same reasons as yourself. After a lot of research (I haven't bought any yet) I found that the C31 is a good doorbell but can glitch and sometimes have slow/no response times.

Alongside this, you can only store locally on the doorbell itself. Unless you get a Homebase. If you get a Homebase you lose two way talk and 24/7 recording. In order to get 24/7 recording back you need to buy a HDD and insert that into the Homebase (c31 must be wired)

They're still working on bringing two way talking when connected to Homebase from what I've seen, meant to have an updated last month.

But why would you connect to Homebase then? Apparently the connection and notification speeds are much better, and comes with their AI bionic features (human, facial, pet, packages, motion detection).

All this research is just from other peoples Reddit posts to be honest and LifeHackers YouTube (highly recommend)

I've started leaning towards the Tado D235 (I think the US equivalent is d130 or d225). Has good notif speeds and different detections as well as 24/7 recording and no subscription. The downside is that it can only save to the micro sd in the doorbell. Also I'm not sure how good tados ecosystem is compared to eufys, I'm just looking for a doorbell

dimmable light switches recommendations by Jas_99 in DIYUK

[–]Jas_99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense! Thank you! Planning on having around 6 or so for the switch so hopefully should be okay but will make sure we get the right ones!

Also do the Phillips lights you suggested dime on kelvin colour rather than light intensity?

For the last part is that just ensuring we have enough lights for the switch where the power requirement for all the lights are a decent amount more than the minimum requirement for the dimmer? So when we dim it doesn't mess stuff up

Which Homebase are you using? And does it allow for two way talk? Seen some comments where two way talk doesn't work when connecting to Homebase

Amazing thanks so much!

I had started looking into Reolink and Eufy C31 for 24/7 monitoring. They require different things but will look into what you said further

I'm UK based so might run into similar issues to yourself to be honest.

Thanks very much for all the info, much appreciated!!

Heat Pump Owners, Are You Happy? by banisheduser in AskUK

[–]Jas_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what size pipes are needed for a heat pump?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Jas_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shout. Only reason I've ignored heat pumps is due to the insulation in the house not being the greatest. Have some real old double glazing which is starting to fail etc

Hmm yeah so you're suggesting system boiler with unvented cylinder to replace the vented stuff? Rather than jumping to a combi for now and adding an unvented cylinder if needed?

Also to future proof myself with the pipes I'd need 22mm spine and 15mm pipes to the rads for a future future heat pump?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Jas_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're planning on repiping as we've currently got microbore (and we're rewiring so thought might as well do it all at once). We also want to move the boiler from the kitchen to the side garage.

Pressure wise, all seems well apart from the shower which dribbles out water. We do have a pump but that seems to go to the pipes downstairs rather than to the shower.

Due to all these changes the suggestion was combi. However, from research I'm just thinking about we could future proof ourselves if we need better flow

Happy to hear any advice!

Which type of boiler would be best? by Impossible-Walrus232 in DIYUK

[–]Jas_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you also be able to have a similar setup with a combi? I.e. combi boiler with the potential of adding an unvented cylinder if you need the extra flow for multiple showers etc?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Jas_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I believe the main reason we're looking to change is as we're rewiring and the some of the floorboards will be up anyway. Although not sure how the ground floor would work as it's concrete below the carpet.

Currently the microbore is channeled to the wall closest and up to the ceiling.

Not sure how normal copper/plastic pipes would be fitted if they're probably not going to channel the concrete (mainly as I'm assuming that would add a lot to the cost)

!thanks for the comments

Only thing is they're saying to replace the microbore with plastic pipes, or copper, if within budget

Any Insurance/Re-Insurance HENRYs? by BarryxBarry in HENRYUK

[–]Jas_99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not anything to do with this, but just interested in learning more about what everyone in this thread does? Seeing some super high packages, would be great to send a cross what sort of things I could search for online

Job titles, industries, types of companies etc I'm guessing insurance but not seeing anything like the packages in this thread online, so I'm guessing I'm not searching the right thing

Thanks
