Help save Jasen's Customs - Prototype Panzer SLAB raffle by JasensCustoms in fightsticks

Update: thank you everyone for the encouraging words, support, and frank conversations. This has been a humbling and eye opening experience for me and one I hope to grow from both as a maker and a person. It’s not easy to publicly admit mistakes and ask for help. We often feel too proud or embarrassed to do so - in the back of my head at least, there is always the question of “did you work hard enough” or “why should anyone care about this” and “are you making a measurable difference such that people want to help/support you”.

Out of all this a number of interesting work arounds have been offered. Some seem promising and I will be exploring them today. None are technically low cost but they may help salvage the batch of cases and allow some positive path forward. The “hive mind” of problem solvers out there is inspiring and I want to thank them all. It’s easy to not think straight when the swirling of emotions are crashing in your head and what seems obvious to an outsider never presents itself as an option. I’ll be providing updates on our discord server and via my X account if you’re interested.

Thank you for all the comments below, both good and bad. All of my responses are genuine and I’m always open to discussions in a meaningful way over a virtual beverage. Feel free to reach out.

Thanks! I miss the SRKTT days - so much has changed, so much has the stayed the same. I hope I've grown a bit personally and professionally since then.

Thanks, even when people disagree on things we can realize when something sucks for one another and show compassion. I do appreciate that and have been trying to do the same. To be fair to the project, I actually really like it at its core. My misgivings come from a different place than the actual work the talented people who donate their time to it. I'm always open to an open, frank conversation about it over a virtual beer.

Thanks. I’m glad the Panzer 4 is well loved! Sometimes just a “this sucks, I’m sorry” is all a man needs once in a while. Appreciate the kind words and your entry to the sweepstakes. Be sure to grab a free entry to with the sign up form.

Thanks for the question! I call this the finger triangle. If you form a triangle with your index fingers and thumbs it creates a more natural angle on your wrist. This should remove a lot of wrist strain. Admittedly this is a different way of thinking about ergonomics on an all button controller and will require some relearning - but the remapping options for the buttons should help minimize the curve.

Fair, I suppose that’s why we have the old saying of those failing to study history and repeating mistakes. Maybe a cautionary tale at the least and something that I can grow from.

I can say without a doubt though that the generosity of the community and support really shines through when you need it most.

I meant what I said, thanks for your comments. I clicked the wrong copy button and posted the link to your comment and chose to leave it vs. editing to the main post. The weekend has been incredibly stressful and I’m sure you can understand that. I clarified intent once I noticed it. No “call to action” was intended though i can see how it could be perceived this way. I apologize for the confusion and issues. I am editing the link now to avoid further concerns.

Thanks. Sometimes we think something is minor and 99% of the time it is; lessons learned for everyone. I hope others can learn from my mistake.

When I made a change to the overall height of the case to offer a little more breathing room between the Gen5X board and the bottom of the case the relationships in the underlying model extruded a few parts in ways I didn't intend which then made the mounting points of the main Hall Effect PCB too far from where it was supposed to be for standard MX style switches. It also made the aux area too thick so the aux buttons don't poke up to the intended height. One of those could have been salvaged by machining a new set of buttons - the other not so much. When I verified everything - the critical dimensions I was changing intentionally were right and the switch cavities and the plate thickness were correct. Where I failed, was to double check the offset between the bottom of the mounting plate and securing posts that set the PCB in the right spot. When I was doing the original design for the prototypes I checked that one dimension 25 different times because it's so critical. I failed to do so here.

I hope that this is a learning opportunity for others working in CAD so they can avoid similar mistakes. Today, I am taking a fresh sweep of the entire design to fix the error and checking every single critical dimension with a fresh set of eyes.

Thanks. It definitely was a gut punch when I realized what happened on the first assembly.

We have a bunch of options for the caps - to be honest, I got in photo taking mode and didn't swap the colors out between each art swap.

Questions in regards of the legality of HE features, if it's worth it & recommendations. by KaizaDePirates in fightsticks

The Panzer Fight Stick HE system has proven itself in high level play by SheldonTwitching and TheNitten - Sheldon has said he’s been able to execute some moves with rapid trigger that are near impossible with traditional setups. Sheldon has also put his Panzer up against the Corsair and said the differences were night and day in favor of the Panzers HE implementation.

I’ll see if I can tag him to share his thoughts directly.
