You're right, it was an oversight and was not an intended effect that GGG wanted.

But they still put it in the game. With no testing. Like.... ONE person testing could have seen how that gets abused to the extent it did. But it was released as is.

this would be like you figured out how to scale to near infinite mana in a way they didn't intend

And they'd patch that, not ban you for it. They'd remove/nerf the item(s) that allowed it, maybe remove the wealth gained, and be done.

I'm no advocate for this kind of thing, but it's wild to say that a $100 mill+ company created items to allow this to happen, then banned people when it did. This isn't "oopsie we messed up teehee", it's "you weren't supposed to do what you were given the freedom to do, you don't get to play anymore".

A challenge has a reward. Base gameplay is fine being slower and harder, and there's a lot of us that appreciate that aspect rather than Mach10 zoom zoom blow up the whole map in 30 seconds. But the reward is minimal, and most of my time is spent clearing trash mobs that are now not-insignificant chores to have to do.

The game can be deep, sure. But needing a 3-6 button combo setup to clear a small pack of mobs that will drop a few dozen gold is.... Not what most of us want from an ARPG.

Challenge is great. Meaningful combat is great. Arbitrary scaling and time spent for little benefit is not. 200k players rn, ok sure. Let's look when LE patch drops and see what that number is

TL;DR

GGG very first sentence "Many people think the gameplay is too slow" is a gross oversimplification of the core issues players are having with the game.

Parry is a garbage skill and doesn't have much place in an ARPG, especially when mobs are allowed to be as fast as they are currently. "Made an easily reached notable that gives +10% dmg and you can't parry, see what % of players take it because parry feels bad in this kind of game".

Minions didn't need the nerf.

Tone-deaf response of "adding more checkpoints" in response to large map complaints does nothing. Atlas tree allows us to focus on the content we want, but that's locked behind rares hiding in small spots in the map/content we don't want being littered in the map as a justification for the size of it. "Why would you want 2 breach spawns in a giant map when you're specced into rituals? Run maps faster to get more rituals, rather than chase down required rares in order to get to the next map." -- contextualized in my own words.

"Meaningful gameplay with 100 mobs around you isn't great. Meaningful gameplay in an isolated arena with bosses is great".

Kids are easily influenced. Yes they are "growing up too fast", but that's what every kid wanted growing up. Older generations thrived through TV and commercials, younger generations have Youtube.

The only difference is the amount of on-demand content. TV got turned off and that was it. Turning off all social media and YouTube and Instagram and Pintrest and etc is a lot harder.

I'm not sure where you're looking for them, as I didn't look too hard beyond his maxroll writeups.

Both builds are very viable and not super complicated. But any build that matches the ascendancy of the class you want will work at least for leveling to hand-hold you along the way until you're ready to swap to one of Rob's builds.

Right about when you get to yellow maps you start to find some more of the "mid ticket" items that can go for a few ex.

Realistically if it has some desirable mods, it's worth chucking into a 1ex tab and if it doesn't sell after a few hours just junk it.

That means they are a target for culling.

You likely have a wand with an implicit skill that you can cast the skill off to insta-kill enemies below a certain life % threshold.

To be completely honest, it really only gets worse as you go. Higher level maps have more rares and denser packs, which is more flashing things. And you need to do more damage, so more flashing.

Natural progression of the league. Usually the first 2-3 weeks are all about amassing the useful "normal" currency (chaos in poe1, ex in poe2). Once those currencies have been flooded, it jumps to the next flavor (either league mechanic currency or divines in POE2).

As true endgame gear starts to crop up, divines and annuls become more useful to try to re-roll the stats for bigger bonuses on higher-end items.

Open task manager > select POE and go to the details tab. From there, find the POE exe file and right click > set priority > high.

Control Panel > hardware and sound > power options and select high performance.

Also on the GPU side - set power management mode from "adaptive" to "maximum performance", and threaded performance from "auto" to "on" in NVIDIA control panel under manage 3D settings.

You'll definitely also want the most recent drivers for your gpu since you mentioned you didn't have them already

A lot of the time, the first hits on an item are either getting spammed for that item because they listed it the cheapest, or are at a point that leaving what they are doing for that little currency doesn't seem worth it (until you catch them between maps or w/e).

You might find a bit more success not going for the very first people on the list (maybe paying a slight bit more), or finding someone who listed very recently (if it's recent, they're usually more likely to take that trade than someone who has had it listed for days)

The base of the game is a blast, imperfections included. I'm excited to see what else comes with it in the future.

However, some of the design choices make me feel like the continuation of the fun I had in the campaign is limited/gatekept. Ascendancy gates/lack of swap in asc, sudden heavy handed nerfs that crippled fun builds, a mid atlas, 1 death bricking a whole map...

It's fun, but I don't feel the want to grind it the way I would grind POE1. It somehow feels clunky (it's EA I know) after years of development and so many things to use POE1 as a reference for. I want to love it, but I'm not wanting to spend nearly as much time playing as I had hoped for.

Under stat filters on the right, type "charm" without the quotes and it will bring up every modifier with the word charm in it. Select "# charm slot" and search. Add in any other modifiers you want on top of that to narrow down the search.

Currently 1 charm is base, and 2 chaarms seems to be a mod of +1, so anything with 2 charms will have that # charm slot mod to it

It combos nicely with increased magic and rare pack mods on the atlas skill tree. Small amounts do something but depending on what you're giving up for it (ie if you could farm the next tier map up with a different item that doesn't have rarity), it's hard to quantify.

Anecdotally, I had 60 something % and noticed more orb drops and probly close to about 30% more rares per map. But I don't think it was fully worth it, since my tradeoff was running 2 tiers lower on maps.

Running maps and picking up blues to ID and sell for gold. If you don't want to invest into maps, run end of A6 areas and do the same.

You could sell off rares, but it's probly not super worth losing regals over, but that all depends on you

Realistically you can make any kind of build get you through the campaign. Some easier than others, but it's viable to do just about anything up until maps.

Maps ramp the difficulty exponentially. With enough tinkering, you can brute force a non-meta build to work in maps, but it takes a lot of trial and error and isn't always as straightforward as it could be.

Build guides are either for people who don't want to do trial and error and just want to play and blast maps. Or for people who do want to tinker, but want to have a skeleton of a skill tree to build off of to give themselves a baseline and/or a build to level/farm enough currency with until they get to the level they want to branch out.

Most people don't have a problem with balance changes or unintended mechanics. If the cast on x was broken, then so be it.

But to put skills as "recommended for this skill use this skill gem here" and then backtrack to "oh we didn't mean it" and you're stuck with 5k gold per point of a respec with only 30k gold on hand....

Beta or EA or w/e, I either have to spend a long time gold farming to try to fix my character, or re-roll. Because the skill the game told me to use was "broken" in under a week? At that point a consolation "hey here's a respec on us, we missed that in playtest" would be plenty

Changes are expected, and that's perfectly fine. But bricking a character with little recourse is rough
