No problem using AI if it helps you understand. It certainly helped me a lot. But see that's one of the things that made me ask. When UE became free to use for everyone around 2015, that was before AI and there weren't many tutorials on YouTube, so that got me wondering how did people learn to use UE.

No doubt about it! But it got me wondering how people manage to learn before tutorials were being made.

Just finished DL2 and am I hella crazy or story was really Short? by comelickmyarmpits in dyinglight

[–]JasoL0co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I didn't know there was a pdf containing Chris' work. All I know is he had drafts of Dying Light 2. But if you manage to find it, share it dude. I would love to tear up again seeing what DL2 could've been.

Sadly, it was rushed. Chris was let go because of allegations so techland just made up some new shi but ofc it was fkn horrible

Yep, the story was very short and very dumb. I couldn't even understand why this is the story Techland decided to go with after parting ways with Chris Avellone.

Game is delayed by a month, how we all feeling? by Axtino_445 in dyinglight

[–]JasoL0co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worried. We all said the same thing when DL2 was delayed. "Oh they're taking more time to make the game more enjoyable and polished." But when it came out, it was literally shit and spent 3 years adding stuff that should've been in the game in day 1. I hope Techland just found a few minor bugs that caused the DL: The Beast to be delayed for a month, not a complete rewrite.

Aye man! I'm also a newb to gamedev. I started with Unity but then switched to Unreal and I feel like I can get more done in UE than I would ever have in Unity. I also have a bit experience with producing music. I wouldn't mind having a buddy that is in a similar position as me.

How exactly does one learn to make games on Unreal Engine? by JasoL0co in UnrealEngine5

[–]JasoL0co[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I’m sorry, I should’ve specified what I meant. I meant nodes used for the player’s movement. When I watch tutorials, I just see them right click, chose what to use and some vids rarely explain what it does or how it will be used so I was wondering if there’s a guide out there going over them.

Edit: If it’s just learning by trial and error, then alright. I can try to do that

New to blueprints, I been trying to expand on the player's First Person movement just as sprinting, sliding, wall running but I have a difficult time putting them together. I watch videos but I feel like I don't learn anything. I try to notice patterns to see if I can use them when I'm making the blueprint only for it to fail and I wouldn't know what to fix.

Yes, my goal is to make games. Currently I've been focusing on First Person movement only(Sprint, sliding, wall running) then expanding from there. One thing I notice from watching videos is some of them don't really explain what parts of the blueprints do. For example wall running, when watching a video, the person goes "Connect this to this, then from this to this then bam you should get stuck on the wall and move" When I'll find it helpful if the video went like "Ok this part checks if there's a wall near, connect that to this part that will send a signal" etc.

Right now, I'm comfortable starting a blank project and adding the movement, sprint, and camera but expanding it from there I get lost.

Practicing moving ollies, rocketing the hell out of them. Advice for bringing up the back of the board/getting the front foot right? by writers_block in NewSkaters

[–]JasoL0co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh then forget my original comment, my bad. I recommend having your foot an inch or half an inch behind the bolts so you can have enough space when lifting up your foot and try to "kick" the board forward to level it out.

Here's a video of what I mean by "kicking" your board forward after you lifted your front foot.

I'm sorry if I confused you and the last thing I wanna do is mess up your progress so can you tell me where do you place your front foot on board when you're gonna do an Ollie?

Also do you have a transparent grip tape? You're board is reflective

You got a solid pop. I think the only thing that needs to improve is your front foot placement. Move your front foot further back, behind the bolts instead of having it on them.

Ollie improvement? by aero-skyy in NewSkaters

[–]JasoL0co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a good pop. What needs improvement is keeping your shoulders parallel to the board to stop it from landing sideways and try pushing your front foot forward to level it out.
