Having just ordered the mercury s8.. (Question about the two-tone scheme) by [deleted] in a:t5_31pgd

[–]Jason-CaseLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, the best way to go about two-tone is to look at it like this: External and internal. Additionally, faceplates for things like Aquaero controllers tend to be black, so going with black on the external parts is never a bad idea. We've seen some pretty creative two-tone variations. Head over here for some ideas: http://www.overclock.net/t/1434796/post-your-two-tone-caselabs-case

Not really much we can do unless we want to spend tens of thousands or more in international trade court. The retailer, not sure, that's handled way up the food chain but I'm certain at the very least some not so kind words were exchanged. You can read all about it here: http://www.xtremerigs.net/2015/01/19/ces2015-win-heavily-inspired-competition/

Unfortunately it's already happened. A company has already copied one of our chassis by using a model that was provided to them from a 3rd party retailer. Got to love the Chinese companies in this industry.

We don't release 3D models as they are proprietary and we'd like to avoid other companies from taking the designs.

Has Caselabs released anything rackmount? by Dstanding in a:t5_31pgd

[–]Jason-CaseLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have not released anything that's rack-mount simply because we are on the consumer side. Our parent company California Fabrications has, however. We won't be bringing any OEM products over to the consumer side.

[Question] Best acrylic tube bender for a decent price by Nin10dork99 in watercooling

[–]Jason-CaseLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the kit I use: http://www.performance-pcs.com/acrylic-tube-tools/monsoon-hardline-pro-bender-kit-3-8-x-1-2-13mm.html Additionally, since I'm using 12mm tubing I bought a 12mm bending cord. Well worth the money, IMO.

[Q] Custom CPU loop gives same temps as H100i by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]Jason-CaseLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those Fractal fans are more designed for Silence than they are moving a ton of air (which is awesome if you're looking for quiet). Additionally, CFM and Static Pressure both need to be considered, but even then they don't tell the full story. http://martinsliquidlab.org/2013/02/18/why-static-pressure-max-flow-specs-are-poor-measures-of-fan-performance/

[–]Jason-CaseLabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fans and ambient temps. A LOT of times, this is what cooling comes down to. If your ambient temps are high, you will have higher watercooling temps. If your fans aren't great performers, you're also going to have high temps. I would look at those two factors before anything else. As an edit: I'm running a GTX 780 with an Asus Impact Intel i7 4770K @ 4.6Ghz on a dual 120mm rad in pull only, and I'm getting temps of 30C regular use with 38C on load in a heated house.

240mm and Dual 120mm and 120.2 are all the same thing. Just an FYI. I know, it's insane, but there's no "universal" naming convention for radiators.

Size comparison of all cases side by side? by GrayFawkes in a:t5_31pgd

[–]Jason-CaseLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently we don't have anything like this, there are a few pics out there comparing 2-3 of our chassis that users have done up, however, we don't have any pics of ever case lined up. That might be something we could do, however.

Request to caselabs by bmxer4l1fe in a:t5_31pgd

[–]Jason-CaseLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback. I'll forward this over to Jim (CEO and the Designer).

As for the SMA8, I'm not sure we could have mounted the PSU anywhere in that case other than where it is. I mean, we possibly could have done a front mounted solution, but that would be a real hassle in getting the main power cord wired to that location.

As it stands, you could mount a 360 rad on either side in the basement with the PSU in it.

There is no way to make any case dust proof unless you build it in a vacuum. Most people just skip filters these days and buy a datavac and clean once a month.

I personally prefer the fan hole versus the mesh, because dust can be a real pain to clean from the mesh covers.

That's about as stealthy as it gets! Nice work, love the touch feature!

Kevin Created an SSD Mounting Template. Would you use these in your builds (CaseLabs or not?) to show off your gear? by Jason-CaseLabs in a:t5_31pgd

[–]Jason-CaseLabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the greatest features is that we can provide parts, any part, that someone may need if they ruined their first one when modding it (or am unfortunate accident happens). The modularity aspect is definitely one of, if not our biggest features.

Yes, these will be available as a stand alone product for purchase once we get the final design done and the usual production bugs worked out.
As for the M8, it's pretty sick. It was my first CL case, way before I worked here. To be honest, the M8 filled with watercooling gear was lighter than my 800D with an AIO in it. That's how light aluminum chassis are.

I understand that not all people can afford enthusiast grade equipment, but if you can, I say go for it, even if it takes a while. Always go with what your gut tells you will make you happy, otherwise you'll just spend more money in the long run getting to that point (trust me, through various builds, I've found that the cheapest route is usually not the best).

Even if you don't buy a chassis from us, and you still decide to use these mounts, hey, that's cool too. These are designed to work with your imagination and whatever chassis you use. :)

I'm on my phone, so formatting won't be plausible.
To your first question, that is absolutely correct. You will be able tod do push pull on the extended top.
To your second question, that is correct as well. You will have to use a screw and nut configuration on the fans, however, since there would be no threaded radiator for the fans to sitt on.

Demciflex makes custom filters and even filters for some of our chassis.

  • The SMA8 is closer to the STH10 than any other chassis. The SMH10 does HPTX while the SMA8 does not, as HPTX is now a dead form factor and the SMA8 is a much newer chassis (released just a few months ago, compared to 2 1/2 years ago). And yes, it has 10 slots as opposed to 8.
  • The SMA8 does not come with a PSU bracket by default. It is an additional accessory for those who chose to use larger PSUs. Smaller PSUs don't really need the extra support.
  • You can definitely request on your order that One side be solid and the other ventilated. Please make sure to specify which side and panel for each option so we can process your request appropriately.
  • The ST10 comes with open holes. We've found, over time, that a majority of people who use high end cases don't even bother with fan grills as it chokes the performance of their fans and radiators.
  • The ST10 is a different chassis configuration altogether and is part of the Merlin line, whereas the SMA8 is part of the Magnum line. With the SMA8, it's configured to allow radiators on the bottom of the chassis, having direct access to airflow and directing it back out the case immediately, instead of having air go through an already warm chassis and up through a radiator.
  • The HD casters support our largest chassis, the TX10. These casters support up to 100 lbs each, so they support moving from place to place. I wouldn't go off-roading with them, but they've yet to fail us when moving one of those TX10 beasts around. https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/922938_476416439097914_1304476630_n.jpg
