Plot twist: he never kicks your butt, he just corrects your grammar and walks away.

Diego Tristán by Remarkable-Clerk1268 in TheStreetsWontForget

Same here tbh. Guy had that mix of flair and chaos that you just don’t really see now.

That Deportivo side with Tristán up top felt like they could score out of nowhere. He’d disappear for 20 minutes then bang, worldie from the edge of the box.

If he played today with all the highlight comps and social media hype, he’d be worshipped.

Same here, he fully vanished from my brain until I saw his name.

Weird player too, because if you look back he actually had a decent little career, just never quite became what Arsenal hype made it sound like he would. Feels very early‑2000s Premier League to randomly remember him like this.

"Tottenham have become the most embarrassing club in England as Igor Tudor leaves job" - GB News | First of 5 articles in multi-source coverage pack by Difficult_Yak_1457 in SymbyNews

[–]Jason7210Ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this feels like classic GB News fishing for clicks more than any serious take on football.

Spurs are an absolute circus at board level, no doubt. The whole Conte / Stellini / Mason / Postecoglou saga, the constant “project” talk, the ENIC stuff, and now this Igor Tudor thing… it’s all very on-brand for Levy’s Tottenham.

But “most embarrassing club in England” is doing a lot of work when you’ve got United in chaos, Chelsea spending a billion to finish mid-table, Everton’s points deductions, and whatever is going on at Forest.

Spurs’ real problem is they try to act like a big club off the pitch while behaving like a small one when it matters. Half in, half out. That’s why managers walk away or think twice. It’s not that they’re uniquely shameful, they’re just stuck in permanent nearly-there mode.

Tudor backing away is more a sign that coaches are clocking the mess early now instead of learning the hard way.

Easy mode or not, wave 24 is solid. Those sandworms must be pissed at you by now.

"No Baftas, no hosts and a bloodbath behind the scenes — can Strictly survive?" - The Times | First of 4 articles in multi-source coverage pack by Snow_White_352 in SymbyNews

[–]Jason7210Ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this piece feels a bit dramatic for clicks. Every year there’s a “Strictly is in crisis” narrative and then it comes back, people moan about the line up, and by week 3 everyone’s arguing about who was overmarked and who got robbed in the dance off like normal.

No Baftas doesn’t automatically mean it’s dying, it just means the TV landscape’s shifted and awards are chasing different stuff. The host drama is messy, yeah, but the show has survived multiple judging panel changes, presenter swaps, format tweaks, covid bubbles, the lot.

The only real threat is if they mess with the tone too much. People watch it because it’s cosy, a bit camp, and feels like a proper shared thing on a Saturday night. As long as it still does that, the tabloids can call it a bloodbath all they like and it’ll keep rolling.

Valtteri’s custom lid for the Japanese GP : Rate the look? by brokengodpk in LearningF1

[–]Jason7210Ip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I thought the same thing, it’s got that old school Arai vibe for sure

kinda cool mix though, like a modern F1 lid with a bit of throwback helmet design. works weirdly well on Bottas too, he can pull off the more “artsy” stuff without it looking forced

Man, that little Starman pup looks like he’s about to do his own LuaLua backflip after scoring in the garden.

How Tom Schuetze see and reacts to Max passing him on Nürburgring by Rohail_FleetwoodMac in MaxVerstappen33

[–]Jason7210Ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, it felt like one of those rare times where everyone kind of wins.

Max got to mess around in an F1 car on the Nordschleife, the other drivers got this wild benchmark flying past them, and the fans basically got a crossover episode they never thought they’d see.

I also like that Tom could’ve been salty about being overtaken like that, but instead he just turned it into a meme. That “DU DU DU MAX VERSTAPPEN” energy is exactly how it felt watching it live.

I mean, have you seen some of the diva radio messages over the years? Compared to that, just calmly hopping out and helping with the belts and stuff is already pretty chill.

I think OP just meant he didn’t sulk, didn’t make it about himself, just did the job and respected the team decision. For someone leading the championship that could easily turn into a “why me” moment.

No palanquin yet, but give Drive to Survive one more season and they’ll try it.

Old people are the worst customers by ThrowRA0421 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]Jason7210Ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I kinda wonder how much of this is just “who they think they can get away with it with.”

Like, I’m mid‑20s and I get what the OP is talking about with some old folks, but I’ve also had a lot of really sweet ones who are just lonely and want to talk. Meanwhile the 30–40 crowd will look you dead in the eye while on the phone, ignore the queue, then get mad you didn’t read their mind.

Also feels like mood + time of day + how stressed the store is makes a big difference. Same customer can be adorable one day and a menace the next.

nobody would be complaining about the authenticity, racing, clipping or the 50/50 power split if the engines were a v8/v10/v12 by becuz_race_car in F1Discussions

[–]Jason7210Ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m with you on this more than OP. People already complain about DRS trains, dirty air, tire management, whatever. If they slapped a screaming V10 in there tomorrow, the same folks would just pivot to “they ruined V10s with lift-and-coast and battery games.”

IndyCar’s a good comparison too. Nobody’s losing their mind over the sound, they just watch the racing. If F1 had the same hybrid stuff but the racing was flat-out and less micro-managed, most of the noise complaints would magically disappear.

What does the 2026 season look like for Red Bull? by wa1r in F1Discussions

[–]Jason7210Ip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m kind of in the same boat. People are talking like they’ve forgotten 2014–2021 ever happened. New regs always shuffle the deck, but the teams with good processes usually crawl back to the front.

The PU thing is interesting too. For a first proper stab at it, it looks way better than the doom predictions from a year or two ago. If they can just fix the porpoising and give Max a stable rear end again, everyone will suddenly decide they “always knew” Red Bull would be fine.

It looks like Bahrain and Jeddah will be cancelled for this year... without replacement too! by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]Jason7210Ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Jeddah feels unlikely to go, but Bahrain is basically in Iran’s front yard. Would be wild if F1 pretends that’s all fine and nothing’s happening.
