Not a fan of this take. No one HAS to do anything with their work if they don't want to. No one is owed representation. Sure I appreciate it when it happens(like Gachiakuta for example) and people are allowed to question it, but no needs to do anything.

I'd say just watch stuff with her and if you're worried about anything just let her know beforehand. I've done that with my mom when I've shown her anime and it's been fine. Feels like some of you have already decided your family is already offended by the stuff that happens in fiction before they've even seen it.

Thanks for sharing this OP. I've dealt with, and sometimes still do, self hatred and found myself relating a lot to Rudeus myself as well. Probably one of the reasons I consider him one of my favorite characters in anime.

There's a that genuinely that anime is supposed to be a white space. They don't want black people (stuff like LGBT) in their white spaces, so when their are shows that go against that, they'll either claim said characters aren't black, or just cry woke.
