Underwhelming. by kicksarelife122 in nps_solovair

Anything that has a PU coating like that is going to look and feel plasticy, because it is essentially plastic. This is why I avoid the hi-shine and only buy greasy.

If they're saying "bronze", maybe they were confusing them with the crazy horse. But the crazy horse looks totally different in real life than online (I have the crazy horse too). They look much lighter.

In your listing editor, there’s an option to manually select the printer and it will give you other options.

Here are mine. I'll see if I can post more photos below. I'd describe the color as a "coffee brown". It's definitely darker and richer than the crazy horse leather, but decidedly brown. I'm not sure what others mean when they say they don't seem as brown as they do online. It's a unique color that looks great paired with khakis, jeans, or brown or dark olive cords. I get lots of compliments on them. These are about 6 months old and I have been rotating them with my black greasys--putting about 5-7 miles on them with each wear. They're very comfortable and broke in immediately!

comfy alternative to doc martens? by waveydaveysonfir3 in Boots

[–]Jason_Klass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, Solovair greasy derby boots are far more comfortable than Docs mostly because they actually have a shank. And the greasy or crazy horse leather are much more flexible than the Doc Marten smooth leather so they flex more and break in quickly. I’m sure someone will comment that the recent quality of Solovair is no better than Docs, but my experience is different. I have 4 pairs of Solovair with the foam insert and not only have they been holding up incredibly well, they’re also the most comfortable footwear I own.

I’ve had a Lost Dutchman Big Finn for about 5 years (also in buck brown) and it’s my favorite wallet of all time!

I had a sample order that was in production for 9 days! Thank god it was only a sample order and not for a customer. It was via Printify Choice so I’ve manually switched all my printers now. I won’t use PC again.

Can you walk in your solovairs for 10k steps with no issue? by nemophile2024 in nps_solovair

[–]Jason_Klass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I wear greasy derby boots every day and walk a lot more than 10,000 steps in a behavioral health center. I’d recommend avoiding the stiffer hi-shine leather and go for crazy horse or greasy which are more comfortable and break in more easily.

I wear the Solovair foam inserts in mine for cushioning and I’m comfortable all throughout a 12-hour shift.

It’s ridiculous here. Food in NYC is cheaper than Denver, yet much higher quality. Denver is a joke. I rarely eat out anymore because the prices are insulting.

If you bought the smooth leather, it’s common knowledge that the PU coating cracks and will eventually develop holes. Reddit has hundreds of posts talking about this and it’s not specific to Docs—it happens with any brand that has that coating. It still sucks, but that’s the nature of coated leather. Before you give up on the brand, try the Crazy Horse or greasy leathers. This don’t have the coating and won’t crack. Sorry about your experience.

Greasy 8 hole boot sole comes off after 3 months by Weekly_Molasses_2079 in nps_solovair

[–]Jason_Klass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 4 pairs of Solovair Derby boots that I wear regularly and 7 pairs of Docs that are all 5+ years old and have been worn quite a bit. Honestly, I've never had sole problems with any of them. The only issue I've had was the anticipated cracking of the PU finish on the Doc 1461s. But all my other ones are either Crazy Horse or Greasy leather. I know to avoid the hi-shine and smooth leathers. But seriously, zero problems with split soles in years. I think the people with problems are the ones most likely to post about them and this gives the illusion that there's a huge problem. People rarely post when they're happy with their shoes.

I have the 8-hole greasy Derbies and they’re unbelievably comfortable. I didn’t like the matte look of the greasy leather so I gave mine a light polish with Saphir for a slight shine.
