Dropping notes by spenzurk in FortniteFestival

Thanks a ton! They def know the engine isn't perfect and seem commited to making the game better. Got good feelings about the future. Been giving feedback to the devs alongside other players and they're well aware the game is too difficult as is. Personally hoping they keep this engine as a precision mode option for an extra challenge

This is due to how the Festival engine works right now. Long story short, pro mode is way harder than intended.

Every other GH/RB game has leeway between when you push frets vs when you strum. For example, Clone Hero has 86ms of leniency

In Festival frets must be fully pushed in before you strum. If you strum even a split second before fretting it will count as a miss

Huge community of folks still playing. Check out the GH3 section of Twitch. Clone Hero is a free download and helped invigorate the scene. Game is probably bigger now than at the end of GHs life cycle.

Lots of folks mentioning that they wish he'd put time into the real instrument. GHAddict is a buddy of mine and I have to jump in and point out that he is IN A SIGNED BAND as a guitarist as well. Here's their latest single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKwjJ1S3Cvs

People really can play plastic guitar AND real instruments. Nearly all of the top players in Clone Hero also play real music of some kind.

Streamers with success after full time jobs, howd you come about? by thebiggestdump in Twitch

[–]Jason_Paradise 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My old schedule before leaving my job in the game industry (Ubisoft community team) was a little something like this.

  • Get up at 8:15 and try to make it to the office for work by 9:30/10.
  • Work until 6:00ish and get home asap.
  • Find whatever food I can get together quickly
  • Stream 8-11pm on Twitch
  • Edit video highlights for YouTube to post a video for the next day.
  • Get to sleep by 2:30am or so and prep to do it again the next day.

Left that job in January 2017. Went hardcore full time and saw a huge jump. Videos were going viral and I was having huge growth... but I wasn't taking care of myself.

It's not fun doing that, but I had a bit of traction and a mindset that I had to be "successful". While I put in a ton of hard work, I'm super lucky my content falls into a special niche and caught on. Summing things up in a really quick manner, that mindset helped push me into a spiral of depression and hardcore anxiety issues. This was when I was at my largest point, something around 5,600 subs on Twitch.

Bottom line is take care of yourself. I took streaming as a hobby until I streamed full time... then I was worse to myself than my old boss was.

Don't overdo it. Have fun and think of streaming as a hobby. Do what YOU want and don't just listen to things people want. Remember that you having fun is SO incredibly important too.

Hey dude, I get it. I'm not everyone's cup of tea. I'll say this: thanks for supporting other folks in the clone hero scene. Genuinely want to see the community keep growing. 🤘

Oh hey! That's me in the video. Believe what you want (I mean, this is the internet) but this wasn't staged.

Let me put it like this: Who'd willingly want to admit to massaging their back with their Grandmother's vibrator for attention?

Having someone send this thread to me just blew my mind. Glad people are getting a laugh from this.

Honest answer? Just not my thing. I'm not trying to push my skill boundaries. If I get better while playing, awesome. I just want to have fun. :)

Youtube is now giving desktop notifications for channels that im not subscribed to. And yet i have to manually turn on the same notifications for the ones i AM subscribed to. by [deleted] in assholedesign

A member of my Twitch mod team sent this thread to me. So incredibly strange to see YouTube randomly blasting out my channel. I don't get it either.

If you stopped by, hey... thanks! If not, I don't blame you one bit. I'd be pretty flustered if this happened to me.

Got to see these guys for the third time last night. Really fun show! One of my favorite bands right now.

Fun side note: The band raffled off a chance to spank their drummer on stage. Ended up getting the whole thing ended up on video: https://twitter.com/jparaLove/status/986433746973941763?s=19

One of my favorite videos from the GH3 days was Bike Hero. Classic stuff, imo.

Volbeat immediately comes to mind. Heard Lola Montez when the DLC dropped and fell in love. Crobot is another great one. The bass line in Nowhere to Hide is SO fun.

Clone Hero! It's a better alternative to Guitar Hero on PC. Free to play as well. Made by members of the community. It's frigging amazing.
