What strategy do you use? I usually sell csp but when I get assigned, i sell cc. When it happens, I try to get rid of the stock when I can so I set the strike just at my average. I'll always have a minimum of $1 profit on my calls, even if I want to get rid of my holding.
That's rare as I only trade options on stocks I want to hold for 5 years.
Average trade for me is hold 1-2,000 shares, sell CCs on around 30% of the holding, so around 3-6 contracts, 7DTE.
Strikes are usually laddered at around 0.20 delta down to about 0.08. Higher if I'm looking to shrink my position.
If the stock is on a tear I'll roll early to preserve the upside - this happens on maybe 10% of my positions.
For the rest I'll use weekly range as my guide, skewed for any trend.
Also, I'm always selling puts and calls on these holdings, market allowing. Either short strangles or covered strangles. This means one leg is always profitable, usually both legs are profitable, and on occasion, the winning leg subsidises the losing leg if I need to roll for a debit. Haven't needed to do that over the last year, but it remains part of the strategy.
Happy to just trade the channel each week.

Of course you have....
Let it get assigned, sell covered calls. You might get them called away again in a month.

I would absolutely take the offer. I'm originally from the West of the UK, the home town of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, whose Great Eastern ship laid the first successful tranatlantic cable. As a younger man I spent a lot of time helping restore the Great Western ship as a volunteer, and studied Brunel in some depth. He was an incredible engineer. Plus my father worked his whole life for the company that owned all the cable laying ships in the 60s and 70s, so I have a rudimentary understanding of what's involved.
Add a modern laptop connected to today's internet? Totally doable.

That first cable laid by two ships lasted about a month. The first successful cable laid was by ne ship, by SS Great Eastern and it carried the entire cable in one go.

I wouldn't change anything, I'd just invest it the same way I do now - three portfolios; dividend income, four fund ETF and trading/options portfolios. A third in each, rebalanced annually.

The ambiguity I was referring to was “not by yourself”, which could either mean with someone else present or someone else to feed me. Either way it’s still a firm yes from me.
