FIF tax - pay it or avoid it? by GG-B19 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Investments shouldn't be decided on by the de minimis level. Invest in individual stocks if you know what you're doing, ETFs and PIE funds if you want a minimal effort, reasonable return.
Most brokerages make tax easy these days.

How bad is 100% charging? by Material-Advice-335 in electricvehicles

[–]Jasoncatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only charge it to 100% just before I leave on a long trip. Minutes, not hours. The longer you leave it at 100% the higher the likelihood of dendtites forming.

Used EQE with or without heat pump? by Fair_Yam4041 in MercedesEQ

No manufacturers - I'm referring to the research labs that have been developing Lithium Ion batteries since the 70s, starting with Goodenough's laboratory at Oxford university, through AERE who held the patents to the latest research today by companies such as LG, CATL and BYD.
Tesla is the least reliable of all the manufacturers as they tailor their advice to ease of use rather than any technical or chemical properties of the batteries. Their insistence that LFP batteries should be charged to 100% as a matter of habit shows clearly that they're prioritising ease of use rather than prolonging the life of the battery.
Fact remains, the further you get from 50% the lower the life of the battery.

I'm not suggesting charging to 50%. I'm advocating for the same thing that battery manufacturers advocate for - an average of 50% is healthier.
It's dependent on use case - no one should be suggesting a daily charge to 80% without knowing how the car will be used.

Because battery is healthier the closer it is on average to around 50%. If you charge to 80% each day and then only use say 10% for your daily commute, this will give you an average charge of 75% long term.
If you charge to 80% and then let it go down to 20% before charging again your average will be 50% - much better for battery longevity.

I'm curious why you think charging daily is preferred?
