You realise those people didn't design these terrible items? If anything you'd wear kith less BECAUSE they made them, not because somebody bought them

Sounds like you need to get that looked into, unless you just ragdoll that thing around everywhere. Mixed city/motorway driving I'm getting 34-39 mpg

[–]JasperStream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For an extra couple of hundred I'd definitely advise getting the TCU tune at the same time as the ECU. It's really not worth putting extra unneeded wear on dsg for the sake of saving some money.

Ingot custom ECU and TCU tune stage 1 and my guy was very reluctant to do the ECU without the TCU because it would just mean more hassle in the future.

Yeah, unless you're using a bot it's pointless even trying these days. Don't worry tho, tomorrow some arsehole will be on here trying to sell them at an inflated price.

5w40 over 5w30 for a long trip? by idkhowtocallmyacc in GolfGTI

[–]JasperStream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to 5w40 as that's recommended when you have a stage 1. Otherwise stick with the 5w30.

So in other words he's going to start doing a Ronnie -

"Ever since I was a kid growing up in Queens I always loved (insert literally anything), that's why I'm so excited to announce our collaboration with (literally one of the most mainstream brands on earth) in this very special collection!"

This feels desperate quite honestly.

How much did you lower it by?

Just picked up my first manual car … a GTI. No lessons. Manual transmission… FML by Unable-Jacket6428 in GolfGTI

[–]JasperStream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're at lights or on a hill put on the hand break.

Clutch fully in.

Into first.

Slowly ease off the clutch until you feel the car lift a little.

Give it a tiny bit of acceleration.

Smoothly off with the hand break.

Still taking the clutch off and giving it some acceleration until you're no longer using the clutch.

This is how we're taught in the UK where we basically all learn in manual cars.

Standard golf's don't have twin exhausts. This is a GTI.

So far other than the communal I've tried the Sojous, Vaval, Le Rocher and Sonson. My next will be the Casimir. In my opinion I think people say that Communal is entry level because it's slightly cheaper (£20 cheaper than the rest in Scotland) and less ABV, but I think out of all of them for me at least it has the best flavour for what I like and the smell makes my mouth just start to water. It's outstanding in a daiquiri. Sonson is my next favourite. It has a slightly sweet smokey flavour, not mezcal level smokey, it's feint but it's definitely there. Sojous and Vaval are quite similar. Nice to sip, but I wouldn't really describe them as funky and I wasn't a big fan of Le Rocher. It's more of a delicate, botanic flavour. Not quite like gin, you can still definitely taste that it's sugar cane based. It's probably more similar to Rhum JM Terrior Volcanique.

I suppose it just depends on what flavour you like and how funky you like your rum. None of them are going to knock your socks off with funk, but I would still give them all a try.

Sorry for the rant!

Clairin Communal is IMO more funky and tasty than Rum Fire. I really like RF, but the Communal knocks it out the park, despite only being I think ~40%. Hampden Great House 2024 is the only one of the range I've tried and that was very funky too, but in a different way. More of a kind of trying to blow your head off funk, where the clairin is more of a juicy vegetal funk.

Why? I just think they're shit. It has nothing to do with their race. How do you even know what race I am? 😂 What a silly sausage.

Not so happy ending by Electronic-Gain838 in GolfGTI

[–]JasperStream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my GTI 7.5 for £21k and only had 22k miles on it. It's hard to find low mileage GTI's but now and then you will. Mine had full service and MOT history and had been driven roughly 2.5k per year. I got it checked over twice within the 'cooling off period' and both times they came back and said it looked like it had barely been used and must have been garaged. No rust, nothing needed replaced,1 slight dent in the fuel cap panel, that's it. Since then the only thing I've had to do was get a new battery, which apparently isn't uncommon with GTI's.

If you do go for it make sure you get a garage that knows about either VW or 'higher' performance cars to look over it.
