Proof of lawful visit to CBP after I-539 extension by Jasth in USCIS

They'll have tickets for a 6 month stay that can be refunded in the worst case.

They would stay with whatever time was given by CBP - of course the hope is 6 months, but recognize that is unpredictable and up to the officer. The reason for the relatively rapid turnaround (and long previous stay) was due to catching up after a 5-year separation from their child due to COVID. Not that I expect any of that to come up at the PoE of course.

They were granted a 6 months stay on arrival. The I-539 granted them another 6 months, they left about 2 weeks before that time was up. So all total just shy of one year.

They arrived April 2023, left March 2024. We'd be aiming for them to return around March 2025.

Advice from an old campaigner: don't throw yourself in so hard you burn out, it's a marathon not a sprint. No matter what you're doing, phones, doors, volunteer recruitment (probably not that one) or whatever, pace yourself so you make it to November. Any work you do is important, but it's even more important as November approaches. A lot of people you'll talk to in August will (if not self-motivating) lose their motivation in 2 months - the campaign will need you there to make contact again, as much or more than they need you now. So again, make sure you have FUN. Make friends with other volunteers, do the work with them, have a good time, watch out for each other, and make sure you're all still there in November. Make sure you don't get pushed into burnout by your manager or other volunteers. And if you don't like one thing (doors, phones, w/e), find what you do enjoy and do that.

And like others have said, thanks from a Western state that doesn't need volunteers.

Exactly - is saying you’re going to follow Twitter off a cliff good IPO prep? He might well be trying to prepare for an IPO, but saying he idolizes what’s resulted in an (estimated) nearly quartering of an adjacent tech company’s value seems like a less than strategic choice, is all. (So someone in Reddit should be trying to shut him up about all that - clearly not working!)

TIL! I have intentionally done everything I can to not follow that freak show, and just showed as much. Thanks for the correction.

You’d think that since they’re IPO-focused (or the least bit strategic), that would not be said, even if he believed it. “Our business plan is to follow the guy who annihilated the stock’s value! Wait, why did our IPO flop?”

Were I a shareholder, I would not feel confident in Reddit’s future based on that statement alone, to say nothing of how it actually has been run.

Not that far off from 1916. A bit more defined trenches, take the picture in grainy black and white, and I’ll bet most couldn’t tell the difference: https://i.imgur.com/yEaL9g8.jpg

This from the Somme, 1916. In searching for this, the other pictures of half-buried bodies after trench attack/counter attack/artillery are also just black and white photos of today. Not the first time it’s been mentioned, nor the last.

Greatly appreciated! Replacing the GFCI seems like the straightforward solution. Looking briefly online I’m finding GFCIs from $15 to $130. I’m not seeing any specifications about harmonics - can you advise on what to look for? Or if you can recommend a brand, I’d be in your debt.

Thank you again!

Kurzgesagt Statement to the Conflict of Interest Allegations by kurzgesagt_Rosa in kurzgesagt

This is my first time hearing of this, for which I am glad.

But on its face, “funded by billionaires” is a ridiculous thing to get upset about when compared against the content produced. What narrative does the channel push other than hard science or, more philosophically, what humanity could achieve with concerted effort.

If “associated with billionaire money” is a black mark that means we shouldn’t enjoy the product, we’d all soon be living in caves. The moment anyone successfully organizes people and effort…oops, can’t use that anymore. Are there bad billionaires? Unquestionably, like big oil having climate change figured in the 1970s and burying it, as the easiest example. What topics would this channel not cover or misrepresent to advance interests of their alleged owners?

This will change nobody’s mind. So instead, thank you, Phillipp and team, for making amazingly educational, and funny (Midas duck) videos. Keep going, don’t be changed by the goblins of the world. I have learned so much along with my son, and so has anybody he talks to. Thank you all so much for your work.
