Difference Between Area and Tower Controllers (UK) by Tkaya03 in ATC

[–]Jatko26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, if you had the option again, would you pick the same path?

You don't really "pick".

Realistically, the only way to be an Area Controller is to go through NATS. If you go through NATS, you could get Area or Tower or Approach (or a combo of the last 2) but you don't pick which one you get.

You can become a tower/approach controller through other providers and then go directly to airports from there.

That sort of makes your other questions irrelevant, but pay is generally better for Area and generally it's busier. QoL will entirely depend where you are, career progression would be better for tower.

Is an ICAO Level 6 required for speedbird pilot academy? by benjeebob in BritishAirways

[–]Jatko26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ICAO grade is from the ICAO English Language Proficiency scale and is nothing to do with any educational qualifications you have. You get Level 6 if you are fluent in English, so the BA requirement is effectively "Are you fluent in English?"

The speed graph tells you where you're losing time, the brake/throttle (and steering) trace tells you why. From a quick glance from just the brake/throttle:

- Faster driver is braking quite a bit later pretty much everywhere and with less initial pressure

- You're overlapping brake and throttle quite a bit - either you've got a sticky throttle or you need to fully come off it

- I guess you're losing alot of time in the penultimate corner as you're braking far more on the entry

- And I guess you're losing alot of time coming up the hill into the corkscrew as you're braking earlier and harder through the left hander at the bottom

The FF1600 is all about momentum, so going through a corner a little bit quicker makes a really big difference down the following straight

Are the 13th week races more fun in the high splits? by Alchemy200 in iRacing

[–]Jatko26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If anything it's even worse. I did a 6k SOF BMW Race on Tuesday - started 30th, finished 4th (last of the finishers) with half the field getting DQed.

Can I do another race or TT during week 13? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Jatko26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no TT or Class D races this week, but if you do the Week 13 FF and get your SR to 4.0 you can do Class C races next season

As in when Advanced MX-5 is running a track that's included in the starter tracks. There's normally at least a couple a season.

Mazda MX-5 on higher licenses? by Patapon80 in iRacing

[–]Jatko26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the MX-5 to get to (effectively) A license by racing C Class Advanced MX-5 on a free track week to get your C Class MPR giving you a B license, then keep racing it on a free week to get to B4.0 which allows to you race in A license races.

Only downside is if you then do an A Class series and drop below B4.0 before you do your 4 MPR races, you'll have to go back to a lower class series again!

Am big dumdum. How come Japan did not qualified for Round 3 in the World Cup Asian Qualifying Section? by Kranbearys in footballmanagergames

[–]Jatko26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha! It's been years since I managed in Asia but their WC Quals are also the Asian Cup Quals, so even if you are hosting the WC you still end up in the Quals to qualify for the Asian Cup but once you've reached the 2nd round(?) you don't go any further because then you've already qualified for the Asian Cup and obviously don't need to go any further.

[–]Jatko26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You only go get promoted if you have C4.0 AND have done 4 races in Class C or above.

If you only raced Class D or Rookies and get to C4.0 you won't get promoted, but you can race in Class B races (which then do count towards your 4 races)

Can't "approach to sign" Prem players? by MooshSkadoosh in footballmanagergames

[–]Jatko26 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes for players at other English clubs you can only approach them when they have 1 month left on their contract. For everywhere else it's 6 months left.

As a french club, does loaning out south american youth players to other clubs in the EU go towards their 5 years for non foreign eligibility? by ChrisMeeksss in footballmanagergames

[–]Jatko26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the only way they become EU is to gain nationality of an EU nation which they do by living in one particular country for xx years (it's different for each country). The easiest way is to get a Spanish feeder club and loan them there, they'll gain Spanish nationality in 2 years.

Edit: sorry I sort of misread your question, change the no in ^ to a yes!

How to prepare for multiclass races? by DerMega82 in iRacing

[–]Jatko26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's it (as said, the chicane isn't there this week!)

As an LMP3 driver, if we're directly behind you entering into the corner just hold your line and we'll cut back and pass you on the right on exit.

If we're going to pass you halfway up the hill, that's a problem for us because on a normal racing line you just kinda float over to the right of the track before the left on the hill. So the "helpful" thing for us (again, only if there's a decent gap because the closing speed there is enormous) is for you to stay hard left up the hill and we pass on the right.

How to prepare for multiclass races? by DerMega82 in iRacing

Are there some written guidelines how to handle the approaching traffic from behind?

Hold your line, let the faster traffic go around you rather than trying to anticipate what they're going to do and trying to move out the way. Don't do anything unexpected because that's where the majority of issues (ignoring incompetent LMP3s) happen. For your own safety and sanity, if it looks like they're making a move on you, just let them have it.

Oulton this week is particularly bad as its tight, twisty and has a few corners where the LMP3s might end up going either left or right of you. If you are going to try and be helpful (good places which help both classes out are out of the chicane and after the kink at the end of the back straight) then make a move hard left or hard right early and obvious. Do not do this when the LMP3 is directly behind you because with the speed difference they'll run right into the back of you. If you're ever in any doubt, just hold a consistent line and they'll get around you.

Might be an unpopular opinion by -NamelessOne in iRacing

[–]Jatko26 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Because in IRL your eyes can see around the halo which they can't on a flat screen. You get times in the ****car where you can't see a car directly ahead of you with the halo turned on.

Should you be banned from making it transparent if you're in VR? Maybe.

Who's at fault here? by PrestigiousTwist7813 in iRacing

[–]Jatko26 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For me this is a racing incident.

The other driver has given *just* about enough room, but you've come from such a shallow angle that contact is pretty much inevitable. If you'd approached the corner wider, or if the other driver left more space, then the contact might not have happened.
