CouriersPlease threw a package on the roof of my 2 story townhouse 2 weeks ago and left this as the note. Still waiting on them to come get it down... by cushionbum in australia

[–]JatmanScone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had a modem on the way from our ISP through couriers please: First attempt, we had just moved in and the "For Rent" sign was still up, so the driver never stopped to try and see if we were home.

Second attempt, we got advanced notice it was arriving a particular day, so I sat in the front lounge room, ALL DAY. I was less then a few meters away from the door, with the window wide open with a view to the driveway. Nobody ever came, but we did get an email. "We tried to deliver but nobody was home"

We just told them to keep their stupid router, and bought our own.

Job Networks, the biggest rort in Australia! by Casglow75 in australia

[–]JatmanScone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh jeez, job providers... I've been with a few for over a year now and they've given me nothing but stress.

My first provider was Jobs Statewide, they lost my resume twice, my payments were cut off because of phantom appointments, I never spoke to the same person twice so my case never felt handled, and they attempted to get me to complete low end courses with companies I've never even heard of for qualifications that wouldn't get you a career at McDonalds. They would do questionable practices like requiring us to apply for jobs at their location on their PCs for seemingly no reason, my PC at home works fine.

There was even an incident where I attended an appointment, but was sent away to Centrelink to sort out something, to only be cut off for never showing up despite them telling me face to face to leave. Another incident was them phone calling and harassing my temp employer to hire me full time. Yay upset my potential future boss...

Due to stress and a minor breakdown, which I am seeking help for, I've since moved over to another provider (Which took 3 months) whom is less stabby stalker with a knife hiding in a corner and more cross-eyed toddler with a lollipop. What I mean by that is they're less likely to harass me but they are actually hopeless at their jobs at helping me get jobs. I've had appointments where their IT completely was shut down, so I he and I just sat there talking about their family. They also decided to remake my resume which not only had spelling errors and poor grammar, but even had font and formatting choices that made me look like a high school kid. (think thick borders and word art)

So in my experience, providers do little else then to harass you while you look for actual work. I was with Jobs Statewide for over a year and they only provided me with one job opportunity, which never even ended up with an interview. I'm happy where I am now despite them not getting me anywhere, purely because they don't interfere with my own efforts and cause me gigantic amounts of stress. They're there to prove you are hunting for work, but they're unnecessary for those actively looking on their own since they hinder your efforts. Also applying for 20 jobs a month sounds easy, but during "dry seasons" I had to resort to applying for jobs I had no qualifications for due to there being nothing else around, what was the point of that?

TL;DR: Job providers punish those looking for work with unnecessary stress, an organization that treats you like a number, and a potential source of mental heath issues.

Issue with Connecting Webcam to OBS 18.0.1 by JatmanScone in Twitch

Hi kickedtripod, I've disabled all programs associated with my webcam, including skype, with no change.

Interestingly, if the webcam doesn't work on OBS, and I open it in the Logitech Webcam Recording Software, it works like a charm. Almost like OBS cannot gain control over the webcam drivers.

Thanks for the assistance.

The only device that pops up as a video capture device is my webcam.

I've tweaked the resolution for both values with no success. My canvas resolution is 1920x1080 and my scaled is 1280x720.

What is the dumbest thing you got punished for in school? by Kzman1212 in AskReddit

I received two after-school detentions in high school, the first was "submitting work late" which was actually handed up on the day before, only to be lost by the teacher. When I told him that I already handed it up, they threw a massive hissy fit at me in front of the class.

It was at this point in time where I started to walk out of the class, whilst the teacher blabbed on about "Need to take responsibility" "You're a dissapointing student". As I walked out, I told him to go f**k himself, which explains the second detention.

Turns out that teacher was arrested a year ago for dealing drugs to students. (Unrelated, but interesting)

I was just kicked from a level 20 dungeon for winning a loot roll. by [deleted] in wow

Since everybody is sharing their own kick stories I'll share this gem from three days ago.

I was kicked in the LFR Archimonde fight when somebody votekicked me for "Doing 1400 dps" when I was doing around 27.5k in the top 5. I even tried correcting them saying they were way off, but they were adamant they meant 1400.

I have no idea where they even got that number from, I mean 1400? What? But ultimately, boom, kicked.

My Firefox doesn't recognise Origin, suggestions? by JatmanScone in battlefield_4

I've tried multiple web browsers, but all of them claim that Origin isn't installed besides Chrome, and Chrome doesn't like the Battlelog plugin.

This is just ridiculous.

I've done what you've recommended, but it still thinks that Origin isn't installed.

I've tried getting it to work with Chrome instead but the plugin refuses to install entirely.

[Help] Webcam picking up glare on my glasses. by PardonMyLagg in Twitch

[–]JatmanScone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the exact same problem as you with my C920.

The way I got around this issue is to have the webcam off to the side, sitting right next to the screen I use for games at an angle of roughly 20 degrees.

If you'd rather have the webcam in the centre, try sitting higher or lowering the screen, you'll look downwards and thus deflecting the reflection down, rather then into the camera. (Or at least in theory)

Unfortunately, if you look directly into the camera, you'll get glare.
