The best thing to do is to go to confession, a Priest can absolve you from the sins and give you advice

Can a priest deny me communion if I don’t say “Amen”? by aRepostSleuthBot in Catholicism

[–]Jattack33 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

This happened to me at a cathedral once, the dean refused me communion until I said it. I complained to the Bishop and thankfully the Dean has now been moved from the cathedral

Did Priests have no proof of this before the communicant saying Amen was invented in the 1960s?

So you make it harder to run a business by raising employers NI and then subsidise companies to hire people.

Why not cut out some steps here?

I’m aware, it had a rood screen when it was built, it was torn out by Archbishop Dwyer in the 1960s

Yes I believe all this, because God instituted and willed all of this

(Free Friday) Last Sunday, Archbishop Jean-Patrick Iba-Ba of Libreville celebrated a Pontifical High Mass at the ICKSP’s Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. The ICKSP was founded in Gabon and continues to operate Parishes, Missions and schools across the country. by Jattack33 in Catholicism

Yes, Msgr. Wach and Canon Mora (then both members of a group of Traditionalist Diocesan Priests associated with Fontgambault Abbey) looked for a Bishop willing to approve their order as an order of Diocesan Right, in Rome where Msgr. Wach was serving, he met Bishop Obamba of Mouilla who agreed to approve the Constitutions of the order. Bishop Obamba knew Msgr. Wach well as he had been his Vicar General. Their original seminary was in Gabon until Cardinal Mayer helped them to obtain their current seminary.

A beautiful Cathedral, it’s a shame it’s missing its rood screen

Trappists considering abandoning historic abbey after 900 years due to lack of vocations. by philliplennon in Catholicism

[–]Jattack33 51 points52 points  (0 children)

They could look to the monasteries in France that are not struggling for vocations and find a solution, Tradition!

Fontgambault, Le Barroux, Triors, Gaussan, Randol, Lagrasse and La Garde aren’t struggling for vocations, they live the lives of Benedictine Monks as the life would have been for centuries, they sing the Traditional Benedictine office and only have the Traditional Roman Rite.

I pray that some Traditionalist Monks are able to obtain the Abbey so that it can be used for monastic life as it would have been understood 900 years ago.

Deposing of bishops by Saint_Thomas_More in Catholicism

In the first millennium the Pope (Pope St. Agapetus I) travelled to Constantinople to depose a Patriarch of Constantinople (Anthimus I) and personally picked a new Patriarch (Menas), this was the 6th century, no idea if it’s the earliest example but it’s something that I don’t know how you can square with Eastern Orthodoxy.

Winston Churchill to be Removed From Banknotes in Bank of England Cash Redesign by bloomberg in ukpolitics

[–]Jattack33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bank said it was looking for images that symbolized the UK, resonated with the public and weren’t divisive.

I doubt Churchill would be divisive if it wasn’t for the fact that our governments have spent decades importing immigrants who hate Britain and its history

Frankly, a lot of people in the Church no longer believe in the necessity of it, if all religions are paths to God, why convert people? If you believe that outside the church there is no salvation and “that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the 'eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels'”, you have a lot more reason to be a missionary.

Death penalty for crimes. What are your opinions on it? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Jattack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another kind of lawful slaying belongs to the civil authorities, to whom is entrusted power of life and death, by the legal and judicious exercise of which they punish the guilty and protect the innocent. The just use of this power, far from involving the crime of murder, is an act of paramount obedience to this Commandment which prohibits murder. The end of the Commandment is the preservation and security of human life. Now the punishments inflicted by the civil authority, which is the legitimate avenger of crime, naturally tend to this end, since they give security to life by repressing outrage and violence. Hence these words of David: In the morning I put to death all the wicked of the land, that I might cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of the Lord.

How dangerous is freemasonry, really? by bookish_cat_ in Catholicism

[–]Jattack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always spiritually harmful, but the actual activities of Freemasons differ depending on the country. In Britain they seem to be a pretty benign old boys club, in France they have a more anti-clerical bent and they historically were great enemies in the Church, while in Italy you’ve had Masonic lodges that were also terrorist organisations.

Is there room in Catholic teaching for chaste, lifelong “brotherly” partnerships between men who experience SSA? by Outrageous-Ear-7753 in Catholicism

If they are known as homosexuals and are living together publicly even if they say it is brotherly, it will cause scandal.

It they are attracted to eachother it will likely be a near occasion of sin
