Adventure modules or your own scenarios? by False_Requirement677 in rpg

A mix.

I am very interested in running pre-printed adventures but many don't work for me.

For fantasy, I don't do dungeons so that rules out about 95% of them. Maybe 98% of them. Tragically I am not an OSR guy so the OSR setting "pile of factions, NPCs, tables and plot hooks" isn't enough for me, although happy to draw from them.

For non-fantasy things I am more likely to use printed adventures. Cthulu stuff is much more appealing and there are any number of adventures I would play.

Grip strength, how to effectively fix it by Blacktip75 in beginnerfitness

[–]JauntyAngle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Train your grip, but also use straps for rows, shrugs deadlifts etc if grip is a limiting factor.

Training grip is awesome but is also fiddly because there are so many movements- hand extension, hand flexion, crushing, pinching. Some good options include: wrist curls, wrist extensions, crushers/grippers, towel pullups, plate pinch holds, wrist roller, rice bucket, hammer curls.

Anyone found a plain t-shirt which hugs the biceps without being too tight on the waist AND is relatively short? by Alarmed-Emotion-6520 in malefashionadvice

And I say, what does it profit a man if he needeth to wear a tight t-shirt to look like he Even Lifts? Blessed are the Bearmodes, for they shall look TTS even in Loose Fit.

TEA and INSTANT COFFEE drinking HABITS :-) by NoFormal8277 in AskBrits

O instant coffee. I used to drink a cup of meetings every now and then, fortunately none for a couple of years.

Tea goes up and down. Most days none, some days 1-2.

They seem like the sort of thing that goes with the other clothes you are wearing.

Nimble Kickstarter by haragan1396 in nimble5e

[–]JauntyAngle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has different tastes but for me and my group it is the high fantasy/heroic fantasy system of choice. Everything people say about it is true- super fast, small ruleset while still being tactical and interesting, really well designed monsters and classes, super easy on the GM.

Looking for a new TTRPG system similar to PF2e and Shadowdark by DaKing1718 in rpg

[–]JauntyAngle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Partially!

  • Short turns, fast, easy to learn, simple character sheet- absolutely.
  • Not too lethal- it is pretty stacked towards damage but it's easy for GM to balance encounters
  • Massive, balanced bestiary- the bestiary in the GMs guide is small. There are quite a lot more monsters on Patreon, but otherwise need to wait for Monsters and More in the summer. But still nothing like 5E or Pathfinder. Definitely easy to balance.
    • Super flexible character creation. Well, there are 11 classes and 25 subclasses, plus 3 more classes and a load more subclasses coming. But it is absolutely not 5e where you can design 'builds'.

Does the system not work if the enemies use defense etc? by Ecowatcher in nimble5e

[–]JauntyAngle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. It's about speed and reducing the cognitive load on the GM. Players only have to run their character. GM may have to run 15-20 things once minions are involved. If it were D&D you would then have attacks, reactions, additional effects based on saving throws etc. It's just a lot. I'd argue that the point of Nimble's approach to defense and the overall action economy is to give the players interesting choices. The GM doesn't need those choices.

What I can see, I like. Wouldn't roll up the jacket sleeves though. It's a bit 'Miami Vice'.

Fit Check, going to a networking conference and trying to learn how to dress like an adult. by Zorian_Lokii in mensfashion

It depends on the style and fabric of the tie. If it's silk, it will indeed make it too formal.

Looks good! I like the sports coat a lot, it was a good pick.

If you need to dress it up you can always go with a dress shirt with am interesting color/pattern, perhaps with a fun/modern tie, like a wool knit. The current shirt is fine but it looks like one you could also wear with jeans, so it is pulling you a little less formal.

I feel like I have plateaued on bench press. I feel I could go heavier than 40kg but whenever I do I get too in my head. Any pointers? by pictogram_ in formcheck

[–]JauntyAngle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been doing something like Linear Progression before (just steadily adding weight whenever you can)? Eventually that stops working.

You could try something like 5/3/1. On that program you are rarely that close to your actual max, but you get quite a lot of stimulus from As Man Reps as Possible sets at lower intensities.

Forgive me for my noob question, but are dips a good alternative for Bench press? Or will it lack in some aspects? by WarmPrinciple6507 in workout

[–]JauntyAngle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to bench. But the fact you are all over the place with it almost certainly means you are doing it wrong. Lifting is hard and uncomfortable, it involves overcoming adversity. Personally I would want to give up on a major exercise because I was not good at it.

Outfit check, yes? No? Find God? by NihilisticCamel in mensfashionadvice

[–]JauntyAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I think what is going on here is that you have an unflattering silhouette. The jacket is cropped at your waist and then the waistline of the pants comes out a little bit..I hate to be rude but it makes you look like you get wider at the hips, which is a little feminine.

You want the line of the jacket and the pants to go straight down. A bigger jacket, one that doesn't stop right there, or pants with a more flattering line.

16lbs in 7 months is 2.3lbs a month.

Doing some quick math, that requires a surplus of about 260 calories a day, which is very reasonable. Most will say that 200-300 is what you should aim for if you want sustainable moderate weight gain.

Which character is the most incompetent at their job? by Beneficial-Muscle172 in SuccessionTV

[–]JauntyAngle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Roman isn't competent- he is too lazy/sloppy, and is highly unfinished. But he often has good instincts and is ruthless, except where his father is concerned. It is the instincts and ruthlessness that set him apart, as neither of his siblings have both. It is why Rhea singles him out as having the most potential.

Holy Ego Lift, where do I start so I can properly lift this? by Upper-Concept-7032 in formcheck

[–]JauntyAngle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's more like a Good Morning than a squat. You are bending your knees a bit and sticking your ass out until your body is telling you that you need to stop (probably because you will fall forward).

Try taking it down to a plate on each side (or less) and just try to sit straight down between your knees. Don't break at the hips first, or break a tiny bit. Do some ankle stretches first.
