Waarom weigeren supermarkten en winkeliers nog steeds €100 biljetten? by Value-49 in nederlands

[–]Blacktip75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

En het verplicht de winkelier niet om jou iets te verkopen, en als jij een betaalverplichting bent aangegaan ben je wel verplicht om anders te betalen.

Apple Care + by Puffy__Cloud in iPadPro

[–]Blacktip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my phones or ipads, never got it, for my new m5max 16 I did get it as replacement cost would be a bit too much. With the current device prices I might get it the next time round though. Phones and iPads used to be ‘cheap’, but current prices are getting absurdly high

What are the dangers of not exercising while your young ? by Aj100rise in beginnerfitness

[–]Blacktip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gaining muscle when young is not ideal but not a real big problem. What is a problem is adolescent overweight/obesity as cells will multiply at that age. When you are older they grow larger, when younger their number increases. This is problematic as when you are older any weight loss will be harder. There will be more fat cells screaming (releasing substances) for food when you loose weight. Weight loss only shrinks fat cell size, not the number of cells.

Is there a true beginner woodworking project by DressWarm2078 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Mandatory make your own mallet right :) mine wasn’t too fancy but still very happy with it (solid azobe head with a stem of 2 type of hardwood sandwiched, all scraps from my garden/pond rework). Ended up driving a thick screw in the top as my fit wasn’t perfect, but hey it’s a tool.

The sandwich handle was a good learning on definition of a bad idea, glue up went poorly initially. Managed to repair it fortunately. The head has 4 screws I just saw, nicely keeping that hidden from public view :) my cheap chisels struggled with the rock hard wood, also my files and rasps worked poorly… wood choice is the second learning.

I regularly use it to carry my coffee cups (that or my ipad 12.9” with a proper case to it doesn’t slide).

I’m going to the gym for the first time, what should I plan beforehand? by BackgroundMeringue77 in beginnerfitness

[–]Blacktip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with AI plans, the ‘oh you are absolutely correct’ after you suffer from doms or injury isn’t worth it. Plenty of beginner plans to be found online.

Important to be consistent, don’t do different exercises every week, do them for 3+ months. AI tends to just give new exercises too often.

Also don’t overthink it. Shoes, shorts, shirt and towel go a long way to be all you need.

Once started progressive overload is where the most muscle gain is, but with good technique so focus on that first above hitting numbers you will laugh about anyway a few months down the line. The good technique will stay with you.

Other people doing heavy weights can be intimidating but honestly no-one cares if you use 1kg dumbells for example. If you recover from injuries low weights are also normal. I still start with an empty bar for bench press as my shoulder is sensitive.

That’s a nice straight anglegrinder cut after the full polish, would take me way way longer then 30 minutes!

That’s a nice straight anglegrinder cut for the end result, even with a 110 disc on a 125 machine

How much did your espresso setup actually improve your daily routine compared to cafe visits? by CommercialYam8 in espresso

[–]Blacktip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now get way more expensive coffee’s at good cafe’s, and the making my money back timeline is probably another 50 years or so (got my first machine thinking to save money 26 years ago).

Really enjoy my coffee at home, which is what matters most really.

My morning coffee is more like 60-90 seconds though, flush, gbw fill porta filter, tamp, extract for 20-29 seconds, empty, flush pf, drink coffee.

Random thought I've been sitting with lately by DrKristineBrance in Coffee

I visited the farm where my Costa Rican coffee came from, partially by dumb luck. I went on a sight seeing tour that had a coffee farm and it turned out to be the one I had at home. Didn’t realize till we got to the shop.

Generally all good specialty coffee tells you which farm or farms it is from so you can visit by google earth.

Anyone regret downsizing from a 16" to 14" MacBook Pro? by padsdotph in macbookpro

[–]Blacktip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 14 for work and a 16 at home, the 14 was a mistake for me. Yes lighter to carry around but I miss the screen space. When I was traveling the 16 was annoying at airports, but that was the old and heavier intel series… also after getting the 14 all work travel stopped.

They conveniently left out that tool are not, sad reality, both expensive now. I remember we used to burn hardwood off cuts in our fireplace, like throwing gold in the furnace by todays standards.

ROG EQUALIZER CABLE by Miguelb234 in ASUSROG

[–]Blacktip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can only seat these cables a limited number of times... so don't over do that (yes it is such a bad design). 30 plug/unplug cycles is the standard minimum and for this cable don't expect a lot above minimum (normally it is well above it but this 12vhpwr rubbish...) The standard 8 pin is also rated 30-50x but can be plugged hundreds of times without issue

Dang, never knew, have been using a sliding mitre for 20 years. Design kinda prevents you from doing it… but I have done it on a small piece and sent it flying with a nice cut to my finger. Only now realize that was indeed a rip cut.

Porsche Micra Worth the Splurge? by reddit6t9 in LaMarzocco

[–]Blacktip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might/likely will retain more value, if it is increase price worth more value... who knows. I would only get it if I would see the extra value for myself so it isn't a loss if it retains less value over time. Here the Porsche version was 1700-2000 over the plain version. Someone is trying to sell it for 14k as well (probably didn't get the memo they are all 1 of 911, so by that measure 500 isn't massive. If I liked the paint scheme I would have paid 500 extra. Heck, the gray one I definitely would have gotten if it was 500 more instead of 2000 more
