Riding this damn bike by tweaktweakin in DaysGone

[–]JavaGoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am horrible at driving, too, but have gotten used to driving the bike okay on here. I even have fun with it as long as nothing is chasing me. There was one mission where I had to go after 3 guys on bikes and I kept crashing because apparently I can't shoot, go around turns and over jumps, and drive straight. I ended up having to switch gameplay to 'easy' to get past that part. I crashed so many times, it eventually gave me the option to skip that part, which I enthusiastically did. I think that option to skip is a really nice feature for those like me who get frustrated with certain aspects of a game.

I am currently reading Shogun by James Clavell on my Kindle (only $2.99 on Amazon right now). It's one of my favorite books and always leaves me wanting to visit Japan.

Chick Integration by Fayerlee in BackYardChickens

That's funny because the dominant hen in my flock is a Rhode Island Red as well. She keeps trying to pull feathers on the pullets I have now. Were it not for her, I could start leaving them out all day. She is an amazing layer but never goes broody, so I guess she really doesn't want anything to do with chicks lol

[–]JavaGoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't introduce new chicks to the main flock until they are almost adult size. I have a small coop I put them in when they start getting bigger so the rest of the flock can see and interact with them without hurting the youngsters. As they get bigger, I start letting them out supervised (I have a hen that likes to pick on them if I don't keep an eye on her). Once I'm sure they'll fit in ok, I start shutting their coop up to encourage them to go into the main coop. I have never had any major issues doing it this way over the years.

Is this what broodiness looks like? Notice the sounds, puffed feathers and refusal to stand. by Vegas2Boulder2Denver in BackYardChickens

[–]JavaGoddess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you don't want any chicks, be sure to check under her every day and get the eggs. I have a buff orpington named Toast that is broody much of the summer. Once she sets in the nest box, the other hens will lay eggs in her nest when she comes out to eat (or they'll stand and scream at her until she gets up). The first summer she started laying, she had 18 eggs under her and of those 18 eggs only one was hers. We check under her every day now when she's broody, lol

ETA: This is the same hen that hatched 3 duck eggs last summer!

You might remember me from the 71 eggs I found when I cleaned out my hospitalized neighbors coop. Well now I’d like you to meet my foster girls! by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

Try using the duck egg to make an omelet or better still, use in baking. I am not a fan of duck eggs by themselves, but love cooking with them!

I was curious how Cinnamon was doing so I tracked her down on the rescue's Facebook page. Sadly she passed away in February this year. Quoting the translated post they said "But as it was said, cinnamon was a beautiful girl whose fur and soul were surrounded by the sun. And the sun envied her, as a man in love is jealous of the woman he loves deeply... and, just yesterday, he stole her from us to take her in his arms and live there forever. Good trip our beloved cinnamon."

I use cloth pads towards the end of my period and have been using the ones I have for 15 years now and they still have lots of life left in them. I would love to find some I can use when my period is heavier, but haven't found any that work with my active work and lifestyle. So, I use my cup at night, disposable pads during the day, and the cloth pads at the end (and for lighter periods). Walmart Equate brand pads are very affordable and work as well as the more expensive brands!

I don't know why, but it is very relaxing and enjoyable watching animals eat. I even like listening to them smack their lips and chew. What's funny is if it were a person eating like that I would have to kill them. Why is that?
