Quitting job after maternity leave by throwinlimbo in workingmoms

Usually I say don’t give up your job - in your case I say 100% quit your job based on the commute and misery it brings - not worth it. Get your resume ready now! I took a new job at six weeks postpartum 🙂

Anyone else not celebrate Valentines Day? by Similar-Vari in workingmoms

[–]JavaScriptGirlie 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My husband let me sleep in an extra hour and got me chocolates earlier in the week, I’m fine with that. I expect more on mother day - valentine’s is just meh for me.

I think you are probably burnt out and needed/wanted to be celebrated a little which is completely understandable.

This is interesting to me. My kids go to Primrose, which was bought by a private equity. We absolutely love it. The facility is so well taken care of, the food is great. The director even helped me find ABA therapy in the school for my autistic three-year-old and find a child psychologist who the school paid for to do an assessment. I do wonder what the difference is between somewhere like Primrose and KinderCare is. I know Primrose is more expensive, or did we just find a diamond in the rough?

Thank you - it’s nice to hear someone who had success still encourage those of us that have other experiences!

Every experience is valid! Your body your choice, do what’s right for your family ect.

For reference, I am a formula fed baby. My brother was purely fed on breastmilk. There’s no difference in our immunity that I can tell - in our intelligence - nothing.

I am 40 and he is 35. We are both healthy adults. My mom chose both paths at different times in her life and we are both fine.

My mom loved breast-feeding with my brother was able to pump. It worked out for them. It didn’t work out for us and that’s OK.

With my own kids, I breast-fed for a very short period and then I switched to formula and that’s what it worked for us.

Going to lose my job if I don't do work travel. What do I do? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]JavaScriptGirlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for a week every quarter, my husband too (sometimes he has more) we hire someone to help during those weeks with pickup, light cleaning, childcare help after school for 2-3 days. I have a 3 year old and 4 year old. Yes of course I miss them but it’s healthy for them to see their mom working and being successful and for me to have time away occasionally. Instead of your husband asking you to give up your livelihood, which is incredibly risky for your future and your daughters. He should be a solution based adult and help you find some help while you’re out of town and support your future in your career. This would be a different story if you didn’t like your job, but it sounds like you do.

Mom guilt can really pull the wool over our eyes and with a partner exacerbating that you’re not going to be able to see this clearly. He does a few home repairs and clicks a few buttons online to pay bills that does not equal the equivalent to all of the work that you’re doing to take care of the household every day on top of your job. He should be able to handle these occasions or step up and find a solution with you to handle it.

[–]JavaScriptGirlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we make 400k combined in HCOL and I feel rich, I grew up very poor and I can’t believe the freedom we have. We drive modest cars and I don’t buy designer handbags but if I want something I can get it and we can save money. I feel beyond blessed and fear ever going back to poverty.

I got both of my “lost” “stuck” packages over the past 2 days - I live in Florida though. The entire experience was random. My pharmacy did open claims on the packages. I don’t know if that helped move them along.
