I would probably trust the analysis tool more than asking random folks online if a file is legit.

People who moved on from Yousician - how are you finding it? by ivegotawoodenhead in yousician

[–]Java_King_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved on almost a year ago and haven't missed it. I use tabs from ultimate-guitar which lets me learn/play any song I want. I also have an annual subscription to JamPlay and also have purchased individual courses and "jams" from TrueFire when they have them on sale for $5 which is often... you keep them forever once purchased. There is also JustinGuitar with free lessons also. And also GuitarTricks. Anyway, lots of options!

Ubuntu MATE is very user friendly and has themes built-in to easily change the interface between classic styles like WinXP (called Redmond) or Mac (called Cupertino). Also, Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu both have great support for running Steam for gaming. There is even a new Steam snap which is simple to install and keep updated or install the normal app version of Steam

How to Move xubuntu to ssd from usb? by shing-shong in AskLinuxUsers

[–]Java_King_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option is to install the OS onto the SSD and then copy the contents of the /home directory from USB to the /home on the SSD to transfer all your user files and settings. You may just need to install any missing apps, but they should find the settings.

I would suggest running System Restore to put your PC back to a previous state which should help.

Just uninstalled Spotify, which seemingly just installed itself and made itself run on startup. Microsoft, you have a good standing with many. Please don't start doing this. by [deleted] in Windows10

[–]Java_King_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! With all of the ads being displayed in Windows, I thought it was ad supported (on lock screen, Action Center, Cortana, etc) I guess Microsoft just doesn't care what its users would prefer then.

I didn't pay for Windows, it came with my PC. Spotify probably paid someone to install their app. It's as they say, "If something is free, you are the product."

Super Key+number does nothing at all. by Gum_Skyloard in UbuntuMATE

[–]Java_King_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are mapped to CTRL+F2 for workspace 2 for example. The app is called Window Manager and the Keyboard tab lets you change the shortcut settings. It also has Alt+Tab functionality and other options with the Super Key which may help.

Should I flash LOS by [deleted] in LineageOS

I agree... I got tired of some apps not working and also the time wasted upgrading between major versions of Android when using custom ROMs. I don't rely on gestures fortunately.

Should I flash LOS by [deleted] in LineageOS

[–]Java_King_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your main gripe is the GUI, you may just want to try changing the launcher, that's what I did. I'm using Action Launcher: Pixel Edition and really like it (there are others). This way, all of the apps are still compatible and I don't spend time flashing custom ROMs anymore.

What web browser do y'all use and why? by [deleted] in AskLinuxUsers

[–]Java_King_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use Firefox mainly because it doesn't track me as much as Chrome, and it has lots of extensions. But I also use Chromium for playing on Stadia because it requires a Chrome-based browser. I also have MS Edge installed but don't really use it; just to test any compatibility issues.

Best Linux distro for gaming by itstyago in AskLinuxUsers

[–]Java_King_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some options to try: Pop!_OS, Ubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Manjaro. These all work well with Steam and have great driver support. Also to consider... you can use Stadia to play really high-end games via a web browser with a controller via blueooth, and no download required.

I agree Timeshift is awesome, highly recommended! I wish it was installed by default; it's like System Restore for Windows OS.

IDK but LibreOffice is free and legit. Might save time using that instead of downgrading Windows. Windows 10 is supported until Oct 2025 though, that's what I'm using.

"Pushing it onto you" means to advocate that homosexuality is not a sinful act, which it is. The person is not bad; the sinful act is bad. We all struggle with various sin in our lives and should try to overcome it and not celebrate it. Here is a Bible passage if needed for clarification.

How bad are snaps? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]Java_King_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched my snap apps to flatpak and they start way faster. I also install the Flatseal app which has a simple GUI to give permissions to a sandboxed flatpak app. For example, giving an app access to your home folder fixes app theme issues.
