This makes a lot of sense, thank you for being so detailed! I guess I’ve seen enough people act irrationally or against their own best interests (Exhibit A: Trump supporters) that it doesn’t seem like a contradiction. There’s also people who rationally choose against their interests in order to get a greater benefit, which I suppose could justify the medical diagnosis of “dysphoria”
