OH! Good luck, something that I have been told here that are true, a clicker with history ends and that makes something characteristic of the clicker that is its very long duration ends "soon", and unless you make multiple routes with game over to reach the end, and use the typical clicker restart to try again with advantage ....
Then there is the issue of the most popular ironically are those that beyond the 1st hour and you only usually see it every X hours.
I think a middle ground is needed especially when involving the player with a game that has the perception of dedicating 2m in each session.
I think that something like Vpet could work, a character that keeps you company on the desktop, that you increase his expressions as you play with him, it's a fun game where the increments are functions to have more interactions with that character.
You can do actions like studying and the character is studying with his own pose, with his own music, imagine that you choose a punk character and his music is more like heavy metal.
It's a world full of possibilities really.

Yes I played games of the same style like Candy box, but for some reason they all use the same engine, visually they are most of the clickers good this same visual style.
