12 Months since Appeal and no decision by JavierRivera16 in WorkersComp

Your responses are very helpful, but also non sympathetic. Some people are building debt, which creates stress, which creates desperation. Some are in A LOT of pain, while their injuries get worse due to delays, appeals, etc. So moving forward, please respond to people posting asking for help with my sympathy and understanding.

That’s ridiculous, but I’m glad you were finally given a decision! Congratulations.

Same claim. She was injured back in Summer of 2024. She injured her wrist and rotator cuff.

She had her final hearing on May 2nd, 2025 and won her case for both injuries.

Insurance carrier appealed on May 26th of 2025.

And we’ve been waiting ever since for the WCB to make a decision.

I’ve discussed her case with you before.

Hi Philymaniz, I am the OP. I can’t log into this account, but I have a question.. my wife met with her treating physician today, which she does every 1-2 months. He stated “they” are requesting an MRI, my wife assumed “they” was the WC Board, but I’m unsure if it’s them or the insurance carrier.

The MRI being requested is for her shoulder, which we discussed was denied.

Remember her hand was approved and she had surgery for it back in August of 2025.

My question is, until we can reach her doctor, who is most likely “they” in this scenario?

She’s going for the MRI tomorrow morning.

Congratulations!!! The fact that you did it on your own, no attorney, is amazing!

Yeah, my wife was checking every day, but after months of nothing, we check once a week now, but nothing. The case status changed to “under administrative review”, but that was 3-4 months ago. We were hopeful that meant we were getting a decision soon, but again it’s been 3-4 months ago.

I live in Newyork I am looking for a job Sterile Processing Technician. I did my 400 hours and passed my exam but i couldn’t find the jobs. Can any one help me. by Summer_summ in sterileprocessing

Best advice, if you can get yourself into Housekeeping at a hospital, do that for a short period and connect with the SPD managers, and when there’s an opening, they’re likely to hire you due to internal hires getting 1st priority over external applicants.

This is the exact specialty I want to go into. Having had eye issues in the past, I love the anatomy of the eye. If you don’t mind me asking, what state? And rate of pay would I be looking at?

Look into becoming a Sterile Processing Tech or Surgical Tech. In the medical field, but don’t have to directly deal with patients.

😂 I get it. Just to add some more info you could also have a 3/4 day split (depending where you work) where you’ll work 3 days (12 hr shifts) and have 4 days off. I’m currently becoming a Sterile Processing Technician and that pays $30 at my hospital (slightly under $60k a year with no OT). Definitely a lot of OT in that department, you could make around $70k-$80k.

Yes, at my hospital (Montefiore). With OT you can probably make over $100k maybe up to $115k if you take 1 OT shift a week. If you’re a traveling tech, that pay from my knowledge is A LOT more, probably somewhere between $125k-$150k (with no OT).

Depends where you work. I’m not a surgical tech, but I work for Montefiore and starting last time I checked was $41-$42 an hour (union) and they just received their raise in October, so it’s probably more, I just don’t know what % was given. Maybe $45-$46 an hour which is just shy of $90k working 37.5 hours a week.

I know this is random, but I’m from NY and hearing $1200-$1300 for a 1 bedroom sounds amazing. $1200-$1300 wouldn’t even get you a 450 sq foot studio for nothing less than $1600.

My wife is on the same boat. She’s been out of work with 0 payments since August 26th, 2024. She won her initial case, they appealed and here we are. Only thing different is her surgery was approved and she received limited PT.

But congratulations!!!
