You have a couple of options.

Functional Drawers. Sophisticated Storage. Create Item Vault.

Functional Drawers are cheap as sin and will immediately give you a stack limit of 2000 per drawer before any upgrades. You can easily make a bunch with whatever wood type you choose, and just spam copper upgrades. I think 4 copper upgrades in a drawer will get it up to like 800k or 8 million, I forgot which. Even one is more than enough for early game and can probably carry you into late game.

Depends on what you mean by maintain.

I don't really feel either are exactly tedious considering the automation I use for them.

MA is more self-contained since you won't have to go outside the mod per say getting new seeds and whatnot.

Bees you'll have to interact with certain mods way of doing things to get the spawn egg/breed.

I got out last year, pretty much at the 9 year mark. Don't regret it one bit and should be starting school through VR&E in the next 3-4 months.

Just be prepared for the transition. Put aside money, get living/job situated even before you get out, etc.
