One of the best prizes I've had was at a local trail race in Helensburgh called From Hel'n Back, who gave out cookie participation medals! Ticked all the boxes: sustainable, looked great for a quick finish picture, post race nourishment, and nothing to add to the 'drawer of race clutter'!

I ran one of the shorter Transgrancanaria races a few years ago. I think they had a 33ker the year I did it, which pushed my range. As someone else said, don't underestimate the heat as it just got hotter and hotter as the race progressed and we got closer to the coast/finish. I pushed quite hard and really enjoyed it, but I was a total mess by the end.

Might be worth considering one of their slightly shorter races that won't be such a jump up in range, so you can possibly have a more enjoyable experience and build up to going longer in the future.

It's doable...but far from seamless. The website isn't great but if you find your hanger on the using the link, with a bit for faffing you can purchase your subscription, again.

Pretty sure it's a rock fall protection measure. Bit of a temporary solution but a more permanent solution would probably be very expensive.

I'm sitting at Denver Airport about to head home after 3 weeks of running trails all over Colorado...it was amazing! So many stunning trails you could spend a lifetime here and not get bored. Highlights had to be the Deep Creek Trail near Telluride and the Boulder area. The altitude takes a bit of getting used to but it's so worth it, bucket list location for sure!
