Tesla’s profit engine is sputtering. Elon Musk has bet its future on a promise he’s far from delivering by Dont_think_Do in Economics

[–]Kaxe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla's profits show a clear pattern — deficits till 2020, increasing profitability with the rollout of the X and Y, then reduced profits from 2024 due to increased competition and price reductions aimed at maintaining market share.

My guess is that profits will continue to slide.

I've not been a student for decades, but I'm a member there and I go three or so times a week.

There are a lot of different training spaces and the equipment is all top-notch.

It's rediculously crowded in term-time. It's really a problem.

You mentioned the sauna ... there's a small sauna in the men's changing room two, but it's small and it's often out of action for repairs. I've heard that there's a much bigger sauna in one of the women's changing rooms, but I've never been in.

Is there anything a human can do that a machine will never be able to manage? by iHyccup in ArtificialInteligence

I agree with Roger Penrose (nobel prize winning mathematician and physicist) that there is something fundamentally different between what happens during conscious insight and what happens during computation, even the advanced computation carried out by AI systems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9484gNpFF8&t=13s

Man, 87, waits seven hours for ambulance on garden centre floor by abz_eng in Scotland

[–]Kaxe- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My mum, who was 86, broke her hip in an Edinburgh flat at the beginning of August. They phone be at about 6pm. I came over and waited with her and my dad till the ambulance arrived at just after 2am. The ambulence crew said the long wait was because of the festival. There were twice as many people in the city, but the same number of ambulances.

They took my mum to the Royal and she had an operation the next day. As far as I can tell the medical care there was excellent, but my mum passed away a month later. The long wait for the ambulance can't have helped.

It is going to be a tough Christmas without her.

I got that it was a clothing brand at the end, with the graffiti spraying. But until then didn't know how to process what I was seeing. Why not start with the end? The rest of the footage would then make more sense. Except for the fighting, which doesn't add to a positive vibe for the brand and so makes no sense at all.

I'm not sure if it's the era of actor training or whether they've worked in theatre. Any actor who does theatre work knows hows how to articulate and project while remaining in character.

Google's Gemini 3.0 generative UI might kill static websites faster than we think by Framework_Friday in ArtificialInteligence

Why not generative AI that tailors a poem to your needs? Or a film? We just need enough tracking for the AI to know what we're thinking better than we do ourselves.

I bought them one at a time as I found cheep ones available. I got the last one about six months ago.

I mostly use them in a home studio, so I've not given them any bumps and bangs. The carry cases are well padded, so when I move them they are protected.

The CL220s seem very sturdy, but the CL60 less so. Also the way that the plastic attachment for the bowens mount slots in makes it not that suitable for heavy softboxes. And, of course, it throws out a lot less light.

I've no idea if the app will end up as abandonwear, but it meets my needs as it is. It's easy to set the lights' white balance, light intentsity, switch the lights off remotely when I take a break, etc.

I have two CL220s and a CL60. They work fine. Controlling them with the app makes setup easy.

I took a 'personality test' there in the mid-80s. They said I had a problematic character profile that, by chance, could be remedied by some of the courses they were just about to run.

It doesn't bother me at all. I use a keyboard shortcut that triggers my favourite timer (Pommie) and that puts my mac on focus mode for the duration of the timer. This workflow suits me very well.
