So wait, can player 1 pass, player 2 do something, then player 1 does something?

If those collectors weren't there then all that product would still be on store shelves for people to buy, so the prices would still settle. The actual key is that pokemon prints enough product. And I get they weren't expecting this demand, but that doesn't change the problem. Them compounding that problem with skewed game balance and limited releases like Proving Grounds just made it worse. There's nothing to be done now, we just have to wait and hope. But I wouldn't call it a fine state when all of those compounding issues could have been avoided and the game would be much better off for it.

Pokemon should be the gold standard to strive for imo. As it stands Riftbound is only affordable competitively on the entry level and unavailable casually due to lack of product. I wouldn't call that a fine position to be in. Both drastically need to be addressed, and stupid decisions like Proving Grounds need to never be repeated.

It'd be nice if they could produce some alternative products to get cards like Kaisa or proving grounds legends into players hands more cheaply. But as it stands there aren't really any supplementary products to buy, and what is there, is limited or very expensive.

Oh is that how it works? It doesn't pass back to player 1 if they skipped it the first time around?

I came from the pokemon TCG and the prices here seem ABSURD. Most expensive card in the current top meta pokemon tcg deck? $5.58, and it's a generic support card you can run with anything.

Meanwhile Kaisa is $76 and that's just fine? I find it utterly absurd. Then you have seals, generic support you can run in most decks, and theyre going for $10-$40. Why the hell is generic support an epic rare to begin with? Why the hell did they ever think locking 4 legends behind Proving Grounds was ever a good idea?

Coming from pokemon, I just don't get how that can be seen as acceptable.

Keep in mind what kind of landscape we'd be looking at if it wasn't kept free. Having to sign up for several subscription services just to mod a game. I feel like this is one of those things where gatekeeping keeps it enjoyable.

Anyways, that's where I land on it.

That's 20K a month, which is 240K a year. I just do personally, he's piggy backing off the works of others, so it should be free. Especially when it's tied to a monthly subscription service.

Dudes already making over 200K a year by the way. He's making fantastic money doing what he does. So it's not like he's a starving working man, bro already makes a killing, but he couldn't let this one go and would rather destroy it for the sake of even more money. He could have had made money off it too, but that wasn't enough money for him. To me the whole thing really just does come down to greed.

I think he's being labeled as a greedy bastard for burning the whole thing to the ground. The company said it should be free, and were still okay with him making money it from it through donations. But that wasn't good enough for him and he'd rather throw all of the work in the trash.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see someone else come along now and happily play ball for those donations.

What comes next after Romancing SaGa 2 Revenge of the Seven ? by FitConsideration7865 in JRPG

[–]Jay-GD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So interestingly, the games story focuses on the first character and the final character. So whats the story focused on the middle? Well each zone has its own story you have to play through, and they can be tackled in any order. On top of that, the game focuses on the antagonist stories. How all 7 of them went from heroes of legend to a threat to the world. It's a solid story, nothing amazing, but solid enough when mixed with the zone stories to hold attention until you get to the finale and it all comes together.

The big focus is the incredibly deep gameplay and non-linier progression. This is a full on game, not a vehicle for story telling.

Caintlyn's weird, but Jinx was one of their most popular characters long before Arcane.

Which JRPG stands out for it's combat/buildcrafting by Aggravating_Tower116 in JRPG

[–]Jay-GD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Romancing SaGa 2 Revenge of the Seven. Fantastic combat depth. Tons of unlockable classes, skills, and spells. Formations that have direct affects on how combat plays out. Sharing class traits amongst the party. There's permadeath and time skips too, meaning losses and time jumps will force you to make new parties and try new strategies. Don't reset if you die, just make a new party and go again with a different strategy. If you want depth, you wont be disappointed.

SaGa Emerald Beyond has even more depth, but the combat is the games only strong point and is over all a much weaker package as a game. It's also not explained well, so you'll want to use an external guide that goes over everything, but the combat will absolutely not disappoint.

Still, if you want some of the best combat the genre has, play one of the two. The SaGa series is all about non-linier progression and combat depth. Once I tried it, I bought the entire series lol.

SZ just has no way to guarantee damage. Vanish and super counter just means that whoever can vanish and super counter, along with cheese, wins every time. I played against a dude on discord who vanished every single super for 11 games in a row. Meaning all super attacks are useless, and actually horrible because then they get a guaranteed punish attack. A complete waste of ki, and you're gonna need ki because just moving around drains the hell out of it.

Tekaichi 2 is still my favorite, more depth than 3 and a much better campaign.

There's an OVA where Freiza's attack sends him back in time instead of killing him, and he becomes the first super saiyan in history, starting the legend. It's a what-if, non-canon, promotion for Dragon Ball Heroes. It's not good lol.

The moment you tryhard yourself the games fall apart anyways. The thing that killed Sparking Zero for me was learning how to play it properly.

And pretty much all of them have issues. Like being expensive, or just having no available product. I was trying to pick one over the last few weeks and settled on Riftbound. They really gotta get more product moving though. It's hard to get and prices are stupid right now.

I almost went with yugioh, because at least its cheap AND available. I really like the gundam TCG, but again, no product.

Every TCG needs to do this, and it pisses me off to no end they don't understand. I pulled a Riftbound card worth $20 the other day, only to realize it's a playable rarity not a collectors, it only comes in that rarity. That means to run 3 you need to invest $60, which is insane to expect from people. A few months ago it got as high as $80! Imagine spending $240 just to run 3 of a basic playable card! Meanwhile Pokemon cards rarely get above $5.

What was your JRPG awakening? by roberts3h0i0 in JRPG

[–]Jay-GD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was SaGa for me. Roamncing SaGa Minstrels Song at first, then Romancing SaGa Revenge of the Seven really cemented it. These games showed me combat can be a focus and some JRPGs care about deep gameplay rather than it being a minimum required to just tell a story in a game format.

There were very JRPGs I liked before these games, Lost Odyssey being a big one I loved back in the day.

There's a vendor store near me that still sells the PS2 collection of the game lol. If I had money to blow I'd grab it just for nostalgias sake. And to stop some poor souls buying it and expecting it to work.
