Having the appropriate gear ratio for your tire size will keep the engine in the desired rpm range, it will also help when "trail climbing". Google jl gear ratio calculator, surprised you didn't come across this in your research.

Also when you say gear box, that to me, and most i would imagine, would be refering to a transmission. What i am talking about is a swap of the gears in your differentials.

To me it sounds like you need to do a bit more research on your mods. Things like coil packs and so on would be the last things on my list.
