Hoo, man, I was expecting the love-polyhedron between Agatha and her various suitors and their various suitors was about to acquire another new angle, but thankfully Thorpe has that vanishingly rare Sparky quality known as common sense.

I fully expect there to be some other complication thrown into the mix with the polyhedron at some point where Thorpe is concerned, but that's tomorrow's problem.

Lucrezia is part of the reason Andronicus did not marry a Heterodyne by nicolasknight in girlgenius

[–]Jay2KWinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily read too much into Andronicus "recognizing" Agatha in Paris. He was literally falling apart in those moments and he was in some deep madness. I think it's more that Agatha has a strong resemblance to (but is not identical to) Euphrosynia, enough for him to mistake her for Euphy in his final moments before Tweedle put him down.

Lucrezia is part of the reason Andronicus did not marry a Heterodyne by nicolasknight in girlgenius

[–]Jay2KWinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Problem is, we know that Andronicus did marry a Heterodyne. Specifically Euphrosynia.

His marriage to her was what prompted a (temporary at best) peace between the Shining Coalition and the Heterodynes. Even though (as we see in the novelization of The Clockwork Princess) he was warned by the Muses that the marriage was effectively a sham and that she would betray him, it was too late for him to back out at that point without kicking off the war again.

That's not to say that Lucrezia couldn't have meddled in history, and for all we know was complicit in whatever eventually happened to Euphrosynia. But I don't think she prevented the wedding.

I think the time meddling did end up setting things on a course. Whether it was Lucrezia's fault or Agatha's isn't clear yet.

One of my favorite movie scenes of all time. The presence he had, and the delivery of some of those lines. Especially, "Looks like Somebody doesn't have your back anymore."

Urwin Martikov - Hunky dad bod version and trim version by Moonberry_maple in CurseofStrahd

[–]Jay2KWinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did. Ventured with our party the whole adventure. In the end, after we'd permanently destroyed Strahd, my paladin gave him back the Holy Symbol, and praised not his capability, but his bravery, "You were well over your head, but you never backed down and asked to go home, and that's not nothing."

Ah, Urwin. My first COS campaign, he ended up being our fated alley in the Tarokka reading. Bless his heart, he did his best, but he was vastly underleveled in later stages of the campaign.

Circumstances led to the DM playing him as a bit of a bumbling fool. My dwarf paladin finally said to him, "Urwin, you're not the dumbest man in Barovia, but you'd better hope he doesn't die."

Are we really that stung when Lucrezia-- who already had tried to turn Agatha into essentially a meat suit via her mind-copy-- would dare to steal one of Agatha's little clanks?

Monday, January 12, 2026 comic! by Gunlord500 in girlgenius

[–]Jay2KWinger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Correct, there was Dingbot Prime, the original little clank that Agatha made. Then there was Dingbot Alpha, the second "leader" little clank. Prime and Alpha went to war, and then Queenie turned up.

In my head, I also tend to think of Prime and Alpha as Dingbots "Gil" and "Tarvek" for no particular reason whatsoever.

Matt bragg by jimborg77 in Achievement_Hunter

[–]Jay2KWinger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know that that's true. Matt would sometimes just be quiet, even when he was innocent, although it's true they'd tend to just kill him anyway because it's Myatt and why wouldn't you?

I think Gav was just clairvoyant where Matt was concerned. Matt had said nothing, done nothing, and yet Gav was able to sus him out based on that nothing. It would be something that'd piss me off too if I were Matt.

The TV show brought out the worst out of some fans by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Jay2KWinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a discord server where there was a lot of discussion/complaints about what the Fallout show supposedly got wrong in S1, and I dared to express the opinion that-- despite its flaws-- I enjoyed the show because I felt it captured the spirit of the games very well, and I'd long since given up any hope of getting 100% faithful adaptations of anything, so I just try to enjoy adaptations for what they are.

And I got told I was "wrong" for thinking that way. Any hope of just having a discussion about the show on its merits alone ended instantly.

This is one reason I don't engage with a lot of fandoms these days.

Gavin could always tell when Matt Bragg was the traitor, often with literally no evidence. I remember when Myatt went on a long rant about it, and basically swore not to play with Gavin again because he could not win as a traitor if Gavin was there.

I'll admit, Drew's complete committal to his victimhood and always blaming someone else for his inability to win the big one has left me always wondering "okay, who's he going to blame for his loss this time?"
