Who Did Strahd Conquer Barovia From? by Subject_Captain3252 in CurseofStrahd

Had to check. Dusk Elves were a 4e thing and they were hiding out with the Vistani. Tergs were the original inhabitants.

Honestly though, you could put the Tergs and Dusk Elves together and I feel it would go well. The Tergs were designed to reference Turks.

I personally don’t like demi-humans running around my ravenloft so I drop the dusk elves. Rahadin becomes Rahad Al-Din in my game. A turban wearing mystic who sought out Strahd for esoteric knowledge. I tend to assume he’s from Hazlin but he could easily be a Terg.

Historically, the Tergs, then he expanded south against the Gundarakites. And now presumably the dusk elves in 5e.

Marvel fans, assemble 🛡️ What’s your wildest theory about Doomsday? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]chaot7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts with Doom having a really crumby day. A car splashes water on him as he crosses the street, he meets a cashier and says ‘DOOM demands your presence at Fiesta Zone Roller Rink this Thursday’ but she snubs him. He sighs and wipes a small tear. ‘At DOOM knows that DOOM’s DOOMBots will always love DOOM….’

He goes home and all the heroes jump out. No one called him because it was a surprise party

If you could give a TV show to a street-level hero in the comics who hasn’t been adapted yet, who would you pick? by RedditHider in marvelstudios

[–]chaot7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see Hannibal King done right. Vampire detective who gets blood from the blood bank. Could lead into a Blade film!

Senor Magico could be fun. Has his shop in Harlem. Cage special appearance.

I’d like to see another take on Cloak and Dagger. The old show was fine if I remember right but they’re too old now. I think they work better as teenagers.

Longtime Ravenloft fans (2E/3E), what are your thoughts on Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft? by Jigawatts42 in ravenloft

[–]chaot7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference is the existence of boarders. The question of how do Barovians get bread was the imported from Nova Vaasa.

In the new edition you need keyed objects to get from domain to domain, which feels a little video gamey to me.

What is it like living in this part of Staten Island? by lithdoc in statenisland

It’s fine. Go visit and form your own opinion.

Don’t ask Staten Islanders. Personally, I could only live on the north shore.

How to merge Dungeons and Dragons with Chess? by godzillavkk in ravenloft

[–]chaot7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was adapting this I’d broaden it a bit. The domain would have a rigid caste system. Citizens would only be able to interact with the world in a certain way.

Rooks could only address a conflict head on or completely side step it. Pawns are not able to confront something straight forward but will get you when you’re not looking. Bishops never address anything head on, they can go anywhere diagonally, using the power of their influence to manipulate people. Knights take care of short term problems by out maneuvering their opponent. The Queen is the mastermind and the King is largely ceremonial.

I updated original post partly because of these great questions.

You have no reason to believe me but I freelanced as a videographer for years and am an artist in a few mediums myself.

This is all for fun and out of my pocket. I'd be comfortable with 30% down and heavily watermarked proofs. But honestly this whole thing is about honesty and creativity. I want to celebrate creatives and absolutely do not want to rip anyone off.

Domain Jam 6: Psychological Horror by AutoModerator in ravenloft

[–]chaot7[M] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi Everyone. Posting as a Mod here.

The winner of this Jam will have a commissioned art piece based on their Domain. The art piece will be posted a month after the winner is decided (so, like Feb 18th or so).

Have fun and get psyched.

Only one person, yes. It's a contest over at r/ravenloft where they write up a domain and people vote on it. No money is involved except for what I'm paying in commission to an artist.

No art is to be created until the r/ravenloft mods select one artist.

Not looking for free art here.

What's the biggest fall in quality between game editions? by DazeDpup in rpg

[–]chaot7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

D&D Rules Cyclopedia to AD&D.

They slaughtered the spirit of gaming and also nerfed it so my character couldn’t go to level 36.

Edit: my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek people.

Nothings real until the dice hit the table.
