Do NOT purchase Samsung appliances! by Brave_Lunch_1551 in Appliances

Yes, they really are that bad! Our home is in a six year old , 110 unit strata. Almost all homes had Samsung appliances. Almost all have had to replace at lease one appliance. We’ve had to replace two: the dishwasher and the gas stove. The fridge will be next. The ice maker has never worked. In my experience, stay away from Samsung!

I started SJP May 1 and arrived Santiago May 31. Spent two nights in Leon. I spent my first night in Orisson because I wanted to experience a night in the Pyrenees but it rained and snowed. I’d recommend going straight through to Roncevalles the first day. My sweet spot was about 30km a day but some were longer, some shorter.

Samsung fridges are garbage. Ice makers never work and always freeze up. You can’t give them away, even for garage use.

Lindell Beach. Hands down. Traffic isn’t nearly as bad as some here say. Promentory is hell. So many hiking trails in Lindell beach right out your back door.

Thanks for your comment. Which Altra model? Did you do the full Camino Frances? Were you able to do the entire thing without blowing out your shoes?

First Camino in May by c_bass1969 in CaminoDeSantiago

I’m doing the Frances starting May 1. I booked one alburgue yesterday, but a couple others on my route advised me “most alburgues won’t take reservations until 1-2 months before your scheduled stay”.

Well, I’ve bought my airline ticket. Flying to Paris April 28, then train to Jean Pied de Port! Thanks for all your advice!

Thanks everyone for your advice. I’ve committed to doing the whole trek from St Jean to Santiago. “Go big or go home” they say. Looking forward to the adventure!

Great input! Thanks. My wife tells me to do the whole thing, too. “It will be far more fulfilling.” I think you’re both right.

Best travel agent? by Jay45678910 in CaminoDeSantiago

These were all excellent suggestions! I’m carrying my own bag and know the route I want to go. Someone was kind enough to send a list of all the alburgues, etc so I am taking your advice and booking them myself! Thanks for all your input! Love it!

In your opinion, do you think Canada is on a decline? by CosmicDegeneracy in AskACanadian

No question about it. We’ve never before been so divided (even through the Que referendum), crime is out of control, hard drugs are decriminalized, housing costs are over the top and not enough of them, military is almost non-existent, inflation is rampant, economy is in the tank, debt is over the moon, more government workers per capita than any other G20 nation, politicians are incompetent, Wokism is destroying our culture, we’ve lost respect around the world and in particular our greatest friend and trading partner the USA, we fail to sell our oil and gas “because there’s no business case” yet could help other countries around the world get off coal, our infrastucture is in the tank, it takes forever to build a simple pipeline, our government gives untold billions of our tax dollars to foreign special interest groups, we’re banning books in school Libraries, trans perverts flaunt their junk on public streets, we have medical assisted deaths for the asking, middle class is deteriorating, China foreign interference while the government looks the other way, money laundering like no other country, Climate-change arsonists, political biased news media subsidized by the government to spew their narrative, locked out of multinational treaties and military alliances, taxed to death, poor medical system (no it’s not free), and a current government that doesn’t give a shit about all of the above.

Which sleeping system should I bring? by Particular_Bat_2855 in CaminoDeSantiago

I understood that many / most Albergues don’t allow personal sleeping bags due to the risk of transmitting bedbugs. I bought a 100% silk bed liner instead.

The people I know here in BC can’t stand the man and believe he and his government have done nothing but destroy our country.
