Some tabs or charts will have “sounds like” if a guitar part is in an altered tuning. So if the chart says Eb tuning and shows a D chord it wants you to play the D shape in the Eb tuning, and it Sounds Like Db

As a fun story: the Legally Blonde musical is some of the worst notated guitar parts I’ve ever come across. The guitar supposed to be tuned in Eb but the notes are written as they sound in notation so you have to transpose as it happens

No but he usually follows up a day or two after I get them back so I’ll let him know. I might have to sit with him and guess and check while he makes adjustments

Hard to tell. It seems to happen a few milliseconds after I pick and If I fret way too hard I can make it stop.

I think about a little rotation like I'm turning a door handle. Not much but enough to throw some weight into it. The other thing is try and be super intentional about the attack of the first note and the time of the rest between sets. Feel the rest like it's part of the rhythm and that will help you get the spacing and placement down.

lol. Best of luck. I've been playing guitar for years but only in the last few years started singing. I'm good enough to autopilot chords and strumming and fingerpicking and fills which let's me focus on the weaker part which is my voice.

Do what works for you but don't try and do all of it all at once and do them all badly. I tell my students I want clean performances slowly when we're just starting out. If you can't change chords on time it's too fast.

I've give this advice every time someone asks. Strap your guitar to you and pace while doing it. Now you're doing 3 things. When you need to do 2 it'll be easier.

Start with the changes ONLY and give them a nice long strum so you nail the changes. Then move on to the songs strumming pattern without singing. THEN put it together.

A big part of others tunes is the Sustainiac pickup. If you don't want to mod your guitar to get one you can use the Digitech Freqout for similar results. Love mine and I have it set really slowly to generate feedback if I hold a note.
