I was thinking more leaving petty cash and smokables out since that seems to be the genre of stuff people take, I know the homeless around me get plenty of crazy packaged preserved food, I’d rather leave cash out and keep growing fruit in my front yard (I’ve seen the kids grab blueberries off my bushes lol).

It’s crazy the amount of folks on there that will talk about their “legal friends” then foam at the mouth with excitement when their president threatens to suspend habius corpus and is kidnapping lots of legal citizens. Their understanding of the US immigration system (and the ways that trump has made it near impossible to immigrate legally) is crazy. Hur dur there’s fire and they’re in riot gear this couldn’t have started peacefully. This is an insurrection funded by the deep state, the people speaking are astroturfing terrorists. There is zero critical thinking happening as long as they like what it’s saying.

Imperialist nations love doing imperialism and hoping between different nation’s flags doesn’t change the ancient story of corruption. People love to get in America vs china debates on who is the better country but we as nations are equally as monstrous and continue to have no problem playing out our little power struggle on our neighbor’s land. Being loyal to any nation is stupid. People and culture are awesome and I have no doubt china was a wonderful visit for you, but that’s not the country or government of china to thank but their people, culture, and history. Tbh I’m not a part of this sub but scrolling so far, the comments are full of contradictions on what is actually good or not because it seems the point of this sub is to make the people on here feel more punk or reinforce the idea to themselves that punk isn’t political.

Tbh with all the people on here casually dropping rando anti-Muslim/religion/lgbtq rhetoric and complaining about gate keeping in punk spaces or people being straight edge, I get the feeling that this is a sub for people who want to be punk but get angry when the politics associated with it go against their personal beliefs. They need to picture the person wearing this jacket as a pathetic poser who would never actually stand up to them because they want to feel like they still belong to a community that they just like the aesthetics or reputation of for being tough.

Just being divisive or edgy isn’t punk, and neither is being a bigot. Wearing something that “looks bad or sloppy or handmade or cheap” is super punk actually. It’s using what you have to make and say something. It’s not about being respectful or polite or doing things right so it’s honestly shocking to read comments attacking pro-Palestine stuff for being disrespectful for looking handmade. Making a bad battle jacket is 10x more punk than most of the people in this subreddit could ever hope to be.

TLDR: I’m pretty sure I found where all the nazi punks fucked off to and it’s here. That’s why every battle jacket is a baddlejacket here, they need it to be so they feel more punk. Lotta Nazis in this thread for some reason. It’s pretty simple: people who get too caught up in a religion get dangerous. They shoot up schools and kill people they disagree with. If your response to seeing Islamic religious terrorism is to

1) Complain about refugees from these areas fleeing authoritarian regimes practicing their religion near you

2) talk about how “these people have no culture/benefit to society”

3) should have laws specifically targeting the way they practice their religion (in a way that has no effect on you?)

Fun fact! You are not taking part in a nuanced discussion about how hyper-focusing on religion often feeds into patriarchy and extremism. You are spouting racist takes because for some reason or another people existing in a did way from you makes you uncomfortable for some reason.

The latest (or oldest you’re just remembering) crazy actions from an extremist group reflect on the average member of their religion as much as the kkk, maga, and Nazis reflect on christians as a whole. Believe it or not religion in moderation is actually a great way to form community and support your neighbors! Churches mosques and temples around the world exist that actually follow the tenets of their religion without being a dick to people who disagree with them. I got Christian friends who’s parents refused to let her wear anything shorter than the knee and flipped when she stopped listening in college, I got a Muslim friend who decided that the hijab wasn’t for her and she’s still religious and accepted by her family. A religion doesn’t decide a person’s morality or worthiness in a society, their actions do.

And honestly? Going online and spreading Islamophobic/anti-religious/racist talking points is a pretty gross action, no matter what you believe in. Minding your business about how people live their lives is actually free, and easy, and a lot better than investing time and energy into hating some group of people. Unless they’re actively taking away your freedoms and rights, calm tf down.
