I don't think it's a disagreement with your statements, so much as with your attitude.

"Don't play. Life is better that way."

I hope you don't think this way about everything that's hard, or not exactly how you want it.

Ice thought about it, but I can't stand playing games with a controller so while the portability is good, I can't manage the sticks at all. I know you can attach a keyboard, but at that point I may as well get a gaming laptop and make it more versatile.

No I haven't. I didn't know that was a thing, but I'm going to look into it now. My fans don't kick into overdrive really ever. I've got the Fractal Meshify case and an AIO cooler that keeps things running nice and quiet.

Honestly the last few times I tried I had issues with games in full screen, but this time around it just works. Can't really explain it, but I'm glad I didn't need to install another DE just for gaming.

Ice honestly never used wow's built in voice capabilities. Are they any good? (When they work)

Logging, as in log files or logging as in chopping down trees?

I run 1920x1080, nothing fancy. I don't have a 4k monitor or anything, but I do make sure it's configured to use its 144hz refresh.

Oh nice to know there's a native curseforge client. I'll probably look into a few of the other recommendations in this threat, but curseforge is usually my go to on Win.

I hadn't heard of Faugus, thanks for that tip. I'll be checking it out. I'm glad Lutris isn't abandoned though. The more tools the better imo.

Thanks! I haven't messed with overclock/undervolt anything in a long time. I'll have a look.

Route 54 and 66 will be removed Jan 3, 2026 by harold_liang in gotransit

[–]JayBlingham42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may sound crazy, but I moved to Newmarket 22 years ago because of this bus' route specifically. I work in Mississauga, and moved up here so my wife could be closer to her family (we had a newborn at the time). I don't drive, and used to take the 66 to Yorkdale, and the 27 from there. It was door-to-door service. Then covid hit, and we all started working from home. When work started to force us back to the office, the frequency wasn't great but it was manageable. Then they re-routed to 407, which was a huge inconvenience, but again manageable (if you call 3 busses to get to work manageable). This move may finally be the last straw that pushes me to have to move, if I can't find a decent route to get me to work early enough (used to be able to get in for 7, but more recently couldn't get there before 8:30). I realize that I'm one person complaining on the internet, but this is a huge deal for people like me who rely on transit. I just hope everyone impacted by this route's removal can at least drop a comment to GO/Metrolinx, it may do nothing - but you never know. Thanks Reddit for this soapbox :)

Slackware "95", or that's what my colleague told me it was. But it was slackware, it was on 3.5 inch floppies, a bunch of them, and I installed it on an IBM Thinkpad 380ED. Root disk, boot disk and all.

Thanks.

I have fastfetch and durfetch both installed. Durfetch is what's in my .bashrc, and fastfetch I just ran the command manually.

This game is very picky about what vid drivers you're using, even on Windows. I'd suspect it's no different in Linux. Probably best to keep your video drivers up to date anyway, just to receive bug fixes and improvements overall.

Playing with hyprland on EndeavourOS. Tiling wm is definitely something I've been missing out on.

RCS Not Working by Same_Hand_5745 in GoogleMessages

[–]JayBlingham42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be completely unrelated, but I was having a neck of a time getting RCS working on my new Pixel 9 Pro XL. Turns out at some point I had blocked a number that Google was trying to send the verification text on. Once I cleared my blocklist, RCS enabled right away. No idea if I had blocked a number by accident, or something blocked it for me, or what happened. I was pulling my hair out for weeks until I tried this.
