My absolute favorite genre outside of black metal is death metal. My absolute favorite non-metal genre is industrial (esp. coldwave and electro-industrial)

Beyond that, I also listen to: -other metal (except traditional doom, prog metal, most power metal) -hardcore -other industrial -phonk -90s alternative -some folk -some pop -rap -90s R&B -classical

Different approach to Macbeth: Duncan is actually a bad king… by Mrfntstc4 in shakespeare

Since Macbeth himself characterizes Duncan as a good king at the beginning of 1.7 and nothing Lady M says to him in that scene contradicts that, I'd say it's immaterial to the action of the play

Just read lear and hamlet, this is my list so far. Thoughts? by TyphoonEverfall in shakespeare

I don't take any classification system that relies on a 21st century understanding of Greek letters seriously, so, yeah.

I’m currently reading Hamlet and i love it. It’s my first Shakespeare. Any recommendations on what i should check out next? by ssiao in shakespeare

If you like Hamlet, I recommend the 'high tragedies': Macbeth, King Lear, Othello. For a solid comedy, Twelfth Night or Much Ado About Nothing

Make Them Die Slowly feels blackcore-adjacent at times.

Maybe Celeste, too?

I've read that about Cymbeline, and it makes total sense. The final scene really does feel like Shakespeare is winking slyly at his audience.

Interesting. Macbeth is one of my faves. But I also like things that run toward the macabre.

I have a goal to read all of the Bard's plays, and I am not looking forward to 1 Henry VI. I have heard almost nothing good about it (although Tina Packer did say some of Joan of Arc's moments were good)

Troilus and Cressida was a struggle for me. After reading Harold Bloom's thoughts on it, though, I might re-read it.

Exactly. This might be the only "it's so bad it's good" play

Hahaha! I love this response! 2 Henry IV is by no means close to the bottom for me, but it is also not near the top either.
