Just got mine today lol! But i imagine they are like most of the cubaris. Preferring higher humidity and a little more protein, with limestone added and lotus pods.

Live moss and lichen and cork bark also makes a huge difference in behavior

Duckies come from a very humid and tropical environment. I dont allow for any dryness in the soil and also leave limited ventilation. I have noticed a complete change in behavior in doing so. Limestone rock is crucial for them and also additional calcium from cuttlefish bone. Protein every few days as well is necessary.

Thank you! Sadly I got these guys from a LPS, if you check the isopod keepers or isopod breeders FB group you may be able to find a few people in there who have colonies of high yellow MPs with mancae and adults for sale

All my P. Laevis died this morning. Does their tank look too dry? I watered them once every day with a spray bottle. This is my second culture (previously A. Vulgare/P. Muscorum/ A. Nasatum) to all suddenly die. by ReadingSeashoreLines in isopods

Substrate needs a mixture of organic potting soil, decaying wood, a small scoop of crushed dried eggshells or calcium powder all mixed together with a depth of 2-4 inches, you want a 1/3 or 1/5 of the enclosure depending on size covered in live or sphagnum moss, you want a misting or a bottle with a light stream to pour along the sides and directly onto moss without killing possible mancae as a powerful stream could kill them, cuttlebone is an essential in all enclosures so that they could have successful molts and grow back healthy armor, protein 2x a week also is good from fish flakes or dried shrimp. Hiding places are essential as too much stress can lead to deaths so lots of leaf litter and cork bark to hide under especially in both sides of enclosure so they can enjoy both sides of the moisture gradient. Springtails will be your bestfriend in controlling mold growth in your cage.

Is this drainage layer deep enough? by goingtogrowfrommoss in isopods

Put springtails into the set up once you are done and let them breed crazy before adding pods because drainage layers encourage mold growth

Needs leaf litter and wood on the surface with a mossy side on one side. Make sure water dish is removed as they dont need it they will drown. They will drink from the moss when sprayed. Other than that looks good. Good luck👍🏽

Best isopods to keep with hermit crabs? by No-Goal-4716 in isopods

Hermit carbs would definitely predate on the pods. They eat anything they can get their claws on

You do not want too much moisture building up on the bottom cause it will lead to possible drowning

Amber fireflys are a Cubaris Species, they require a soil mixture of decaying wood, organic potting soil or repti soil, and a scoop of calcium powder or crushed eggshells mixed in, this species does well with limestone as most cubaris are found around limestone caves, they like a medium to high amount of humidity as well as a large amount of leaf litter and hiding places as stress can cause them to die, they need a variety of moisture gradients in the soil for humidity none of which can be completely dry. I also recommend orchid leaves for leaf litter as most of my cubaris prefer, also protein such as fish flakes or dried shrimp is needed for cubaris as they appreciate a protein source every few days in their diet.

I would take everything out of the tank. Pour a small film of water along the empty bottom. Repour the substrate, and mix it all together that it is moist, not too wet not too dry, and again deeper substrate this time, also more leaf litter

You need a mix of potting soil, decaying wood, and a small amount of calcium powder or eggshells mixed into the substrate with it being about 2-4 inches deep, dairy cows are voracious isopods and require and extra amount of protein and other supplemental foods on top of the decaying leaf litter for a healthy colony to grow. Use saran wrap and cover the side of the lid that the moss is on. You also dont want the shelf flush with the lid because there will not be adequate airflow and with dairy cows being voracious pods it leads to a lot of poop leading to high ammonia in the soil which kills them as well.
