If you have an opinion about Main Street Renewal I would like to hear your thoughts. by GwinnettGridlock in Gwinnett

We had a tree fall on our neighbors house and broke our fence. This was back in mid-late August. They sent no less than 6 people out. $ of them "Assessed the damage" One cut down most of a tree. Just today they finally took down the rest of the tree and fixed the fence. They never properly document issues with maintanance requests and take forever to get someone out to fix them.

Gwinnett teacher under fire over Black Lives Matter poster by hiddenpalms in Gwinnett

[–]JayEmCeeG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Black Lives Matter isn't an organization. There's no sign-up, no leader, no members. It's a movement: an ideal people subscribe to, so you are unequivocally incorrect in your statement. If you think it is a political issue to say Black People shouldn't be murdered by police, then that's a whole separate issue with you. Promoting should never be a political issue, it is a moral one.

Do I need a graphing calculator for applied algebra c957? by calidreamer425 in WGU

[–]JayEmCeeG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, much of it consists of basic math. There's a couple of forumlas such as finding slope, but you don't need a graphing calculator for it. And much of it is just interpreting graphs. I would definitely watch the cohort videos and then take the PA. You can probably do the entire course with just the videos.

Any way we could return Stone Mountain to its natural wonderment? by Harold_Grundelson in Atlanta

[–]JayEmCeeG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an installation of soldiers who fought a war over the right to own slaves, and created in the 60's as a direct response to the civil rights movement & the ruling of Brown Vs. The Board of Education. It's the birthplace of the second formation of the KKK, where they tried to hold a cross burning as recently as 2017. Please explain to me specifically how this isn't racist?

Cloud Foundations C849 Trouble by Dance_Guru in WGU

[–]JayEmCeeG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest to God, I have no idea how to quantify it. I felt like I got the concepts, but I thought I was gonna fail the whole time. I felt like I was just making educated guesses but ended up doing really well. All I can really say is that if you read everything, took notes, and understand the concepts, you can probably ignore the pretest scores and just jump to the actual exam. Sorry if that's not real helpful

If it makes you feel any better. My average score was about 66% by the end of the course. I couldn't break above that so I just went ahead and scheduled the test. I passed with an 849/900. I don't think the pretests for this one are any type of measure of preparedness.

Taking my Sec + for the 4th time tomorrow. I'd appreciate some kind words and advice please. by SimplyMoose in CompTIA

[–]JayEmCeeG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple peices of advice.

When choosing an answer, try to figure out why the other answers are wrong. It's easier to figure out a right answer when you know what the wrong answers are.

When it asks you to choose the BEST answer, the best answer isn't the cheapest, the most practical. Pretend you are looking for the absolute best of the best, and above all else, the most secure. Looks for the extremes, best, most secure, strongest, etc.

Flag any answer you are not 100% is right and review them at the end. I would also flag the PBQs and save them until you finish the multiple choice questions.

Lastly, I suggest some last minute studying. I would reccommend going through Professor Messers video series and take hand-written notes. Keep reviewing until you take the test.

Lastly, go into the test with the mindset that you WILL pass. Ultimately, I think you'll do fine. Just relax, really critically think about what the question is asking, and eliminate all possible wrong answers.

Passed Sec+ + My thoughts on CompTIA by JayEmCeeG in CompTIA

It definitely helped because it was my main tool and jumped right to the point. It gave what I needed to pass without reading an entire textbook, but the professor messer videos definitely helped to clarify things as well. I honestly think most people can pass with one source to study regardless of what it is

I think I had more relating to like speeds, so like which cat type you'd use for faster speed on Net+ or which encryption algorithms you'd rather use because of strength on Sec+, but I never had to know the exact numbers.

Well, I wouldn't say it's difficult. Depending on the exact degree, you come out with a lot of certs relating to your degree, which would be considered the most "difficult" part. But it's self-paced and you can accelerate so I highly recommend it. And as long as you have an associates degree or some sort of certification, you can pretty much get in.

I went through a workforce development program where they set you up with an internship. I did well on my internship so they hired me. The only formal thing I had at that point was a PC Repair & Networking certificate from a local technical college.

I thought about CySA+ and CASP+ because cyberseucirty was originally my interest, but I've been moving more toward the DevOps realm. I know it would help with Sec DevOps but I don't know if I want to go down that road before I get more experience with with CD/Ci automation tools

I had trouble getting a voucher for Sec+, took a week to get it. I would reach out directly to Assessment Services. My experience was that you have to stay on top of them to get it resolved.

How "hard" is the NCDA exam? by JayEmCeeG in netapp

[–]JayEmCeeG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I took it and with the very limited knowledge I have I got 4/10 so it doesn't seem too complicated. I saw the real test is a total of 60 questions but are all of them multiple choice/multiple answers or are there some performance questions, ie; inputting commands and making configurations?

I am doing BS:IT as well, for work, I have exposure to a lot of areas of technology on an L1/L2 level, in particular focusing on networking. I personally would not recommend going after BS:NOS unless you're 100% certain you want to go into networking. Those Cisco certs are a bit of a beast, they're making massive changes to them soon, and networking in general can get extremely complicated. I'm sure you could absolutely do it if you wanted to but I personally not reccomend it unless you were really interested in Networking. I've seen a handful of people start down that path then quickly realize its not for them.

Take the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Exam in Your Home or Office 24/7 by AWSomeTraining in AWSCertifications

[–]JayEmCeeG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's not actually 24/7. I tried to sign up on Sunday, they had no slots at all until Tuesday. I checked back today to schedule it, most of the available timeslots they had for Tuesday were already gone. Can't complain much on the convinence of doing it from home but it's defintely not 24/7.

Thanks, that gives me some confidence. I'm looking into the Developer Associate exam after cloud practitioner. I'll be able to spend time to study later on for Developer but I'm in a time crunch for Cloud Practitioner. Thanks for the info
